Immigration is not “leaving one home for another.” It is not “cutting ties” with the past.
It is repositioning—redefining identity, values, and future.
Too often, immigrants are caught between two worlds, observing from the sidelines. But years of hesitation come at a cost—to individuals and to communities. True belonging is built through action:
• Learning the language, systems, and culture
• Voting, volunteering, and contributing to civic life
• Building bridges while preserving history and heritage
In today’s world, where geopolitical tensions feed suspicion of Asian communities, we must step forward. Not as outsiders, but as engaged citizens who shape the societies we live in.
Identity is not a single choice—it is a process. By stepping forward, we build dignity for ourselves and a stronger future for the next generation.
