Immigration is not “leaving one home for another.” It is not “cutting ties” with the past.

It is repositioning—redefining identity, values, and future.

Too often, immigrants are caught between two worlds, observing from the sidelines. But years of hesitation come at a cost—to individuals and to communities. True belonging is built through action:
• Learning the language, systems, and culture
• Voting, volunteering, and contributing to civic life
• Building bridges while preserving history and heritage

In today’s world, where geopolitical tensions feed suspicion of Asian communities, we must step forward. Not as outsiders, but as engaged citizens who shape the societies we live in.

Identity is not a single choice—it is a process. By stepping forward, we build dignity for ourselves and a stronger future for the next generation.

The 2025 STAATUS Index is out—and the results are deeply troubling.

• 40% of Americans now doubt Asian Americans’ loyalty to the U.S. (up from 21% in 2021).
• More than 25% view Chinese ethnicity as a national security threat.
• Over half still support WWII-era Japanese internment.
• 63% of Asians expect to face discrimination in the next five years.

Anti-Asian prejudice is not fading—it is intensifying.

But we are not passive victims. We are not “foreigners” or “guests.” We are rooted communities who have built, shaped, and enriched our societies. Our loyalty is not up for debate.

The path forward is clear: we must preserve our culture, explore our history, and participate fully in civic life. Our presence and contributions are the most powerful answer to hate.
