Some days hundreds of people cheered him on, other days he was alone on the road. Through snow, rain, wind, and heat, Terry continued, no matter the odds.

One million stamps were created to celebrate remarkable Canadians from diverse feilds including medicine, peacekeeping, and international development.

Terry becomes the youngest Companion of the Order of Canada in a special ceremony in his hometown of Port Coquitlam, BC. The citation reads, "By his disregard for his own pain and his devotion to a great cause, Terry embodies the motto of the Order of Canada: they deserve a better country."

Hello friends, The Richmond Hill-Oak Ridges Terry Fox Run with just 16 days left we find ourselves without volunteers with a commercial bbq to cook for us on runday Sunday September 17th. All food/condiments will be supplied.

Sadly, today would be the last day of Terry Fox’s Marathon of Hope...

"People were still lining the road saying to me, "Keep going, don't give up, you can do it, you can make it, we're all behind you." Well, you don't hear that and have it go in one ear and out the other, for me anyway… There was a camera crew waiting at the three-quarter mile point to film me. I don't think they even realized that they filmed my last mile… people were still saying, 'You can make it all the way, Terry'. I started to think about those comments in that mile, too. Yeah, I thought, this might be my last one."

Today in 1980, Terry Fox met 10-year-old Greg Scott during his Marathon of Hope. They bonded over their shared cancer experience, ran together and swam in a lake near Terrace Bay, Ontario.
