We are Canada’s healthcare union with more than 60,000 frontline healthcare workers in hospitals, long-term care facilities, and homecare agencies in communities throughout Ontario. As a union, our first priority is to ensure that the work of our members is recognized and valued by employers. This is the traditional role of unions, achieved through collective bargaining and other labour relations

activities. But in a time when the healthcare system is undergoing profound transformation, we also have a responsibility to make sure that the voices of frontline workers are heard and respected when decisions are made about healthcare delivery. We have direct relationships with patients and their families. We provide day-to-day services that are fundamentally important to the smooth, efficient, and humane functioning of the healthcare system.

After 10 months without a contract, frontline workers at Durham Community Health Centre are fighting for a fair collective agreement.

At a time when too many people struggle to access quality healthcare, our members help provide primary care, mental health support, support for people experiencing homelessness, and other essential community services.

To stand with our bargaining committee, we held a silent rally at arbitration to reinforce the right for Central Nursing Home members to be awarded livable wages that keep up with inflation, safe staffing to help avoid burnout and provide better patient care, secure pensions to support a comfortable future after retirement and more.

Happy 64th Independence Day, Jamaica! On August 15, our members in Ottawa held a gala to celebrate the beautiful island and cultural superpower, known for incredible music, world-class athletes, tropical landscapes, and so much more.

We commemorated with an evening in semi-formal attire, a tasty Caribbean dinner, a special visit from President Tyler Downey and danced the night away to vibes by DJ Bobby.

We unite to fight for all members, and also to celebrate the diverse backgrounds that make our union whole. 🇯🇲💜

Our members met with the Etobicoke-Lakeshore MPP, Lee Fairclough, at our SEIU Healthcare Roundtable meeting to voice their hardships and lived experiences as healthcare workers, including fair wages, safe staffing, retirement, secure pensions, and the overall need to fix our healthcare system.

We welcome open discussions with Members of Parliament as we continue to fight and win for safer and better healthcare for all.

We know our members deserve to be paid livable wages, have safe staffing, secure pensions and more!

That’s why we made it a point to stand united and firm at a Silent Rally during arbitration, to continue our efforts to fight for a fair Collective Agreement.

We held signs, portraits of our families to demonstrate who we are fighting for and essential food items to emphasize the cost of living in Ontario.

Today is International Youth Day! More young workers with our union are taking on leadership roles through our Cross-Mentorship Program, building solidarity and connecting workers of all ages.

Together, we are pushing for better jobs, fair pay, respect at work, job security, and a healthcare system that works for the next generation.
