This National AccessAbility Week, we recognize the importance of building communities, systems, and environments where everyone can participate fully.

For Canadians living with spinal cord injury, accessibility is about more than physical spaces. It's about access to healthcare, transportation, housing, employment, information, and opportunities to live independently and thrive.

At the CSRO, we're committed to advancing research, education, advocacy, and awareness that help remove barriers and create a more accessible future for all.

Together, we can continue building a Canada where accessibility is not an exception - it's the standard.

As we head into the unofficial start of summer, the CSRO is reminding Canadians that spinal cord injury prevention starts with awareness.

Long weekends often bring an increase in spinal cord injuries related to diving accidents, distracted or impaired driving, ATV and motorcycle incidents, falls, and other recreational activities.

Staying informed, making safe decisions, and understanding the risks behind everyday summer activities can help prevent injuries before they happen.

Wherever the long weekend takes you, stay safe, stay informed, and look out for one another. 💙

On May 8 and May 9, 2026, Canadian car washes from coast to coast will participate in Carwash for a Cure - a day of support for people living with paralysis caused by spinal cord injury.

How can you get involved? Simply wash your car on May 8 or 9 at a participating carwash and proceeds will go directly to spinal cord injury research and advocacy that is changing lives for thousands of Canadians.
