🍻 Cheers to a great community event!

A heartfelt thank you to the Rotary Club of Richmond Hill Ontario for hosting another successful Richmond Hill Craft Beer Festival and for choosing Hill House Hospice as one of this year's beneficiaries.

The festival was a wonderful opportunity to connect with our community, share more about Hill House Hospice, and raise awareness of the compassionate care we provide to residents and their families on an end-of-life journey.

Together, we are stronger! 💚

On June 23 and 24, the Ontario Hospice Fund Developers (OHFD) Retreat brought together 51 fundraising professionals representing 26 hospices across Ontario for two inspiring days of learning, collaboration, and connection, graciously hosted by Bethell Hospice Foundation.

Joanne Giannakopoulos, Director of Development, and Melanie Litwin, Manager, Events, joined from Hill House Hospice. The attendees shared ideas, experiences, and best practices, reinforcing that while each hospice serves its own community, we are united by a common purpose: ensuring individuals and families have access to compassionate, dignified hospice care when they need it most.

The retreat strengthened relationships, inspired new ideas, and reinforced the value of working together to advance hospice care across Ontario.

A heartfelt thank you to Bethell Hospice Foundation for your warm hospitality and for hosting this year's retreat. We would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to the incredible Ontario Hospice Fund Developers (OHFD) Conference Committee. Your countless hours of planning, organization, and dedication made this retreat an outstanding success.

Whether you're enjoying summer festivals, picnics, camping, cottaging, or some quiet time at home, everyone at Hill House Hospice wishes you a wonderful long weekend!

Celebrated on the first Monday of August, the Civic Holiday has been observed in Canada since 1869. While the holiday is known by different names across the country, here in Toronto it is recognized as "Simcoe Day", honouring John Graves Simcoe, the first Lieutenant Governor of Upper Canada and the founder of York (now Toronto).

Celebrating Holistic Therapy Day! 💜

At Hill House Hospice, care extends beyond physical needs. Holistic therapies help nurture the mind, body, and spirit, bringing comfort, relaxation, and meaningful moments of connection for our residents and their families.

Our certified holistic therapist, Linda Prussick, provides aromatherapy, reflexology, Reiki, therapeutic touch, and recorded music to our residents and their families with the goal of easing stress, reducing anxiety and supporting well-being. Linda combines or modifies modalities in order to tailor care to the needs of each individual. "Attentiveness, flexibility, and adaptability are good companions to compassion."

Today, we celebrate the important role holistic therapy plays in hospice care and thank Linda for the compassionate care and comfort she brings to our residents and their families every day. 💜

What a wonderful day at MPP Daisy Wai’s Community BBQ!

Hill House Hospice was honoured to have our staff and volunteers host a booth at the event, where we had the opportunity to share information about our hospice care services and connect with members of the community.

Representing Hill House Hospice were Joanne Giannakopoulos, CFRE, Director of Development; Melanie Litwin, Manager of Events; Scott McMaster, Capital Campaign Director; Elaine Walsh, Board Chair; Susan LaRosa, Board Member; and volunteers Mimi, Carol and Michael.

We were also delighted to listen to and connect with so many provincial and municipal leaders throughout the day, including: MPP Daisy Wai, MPP Michael Parsa, MPP Will Bouma, MPP Raymond Sung Joon Cho, MPP Logan Kanapathi, MPP Billy Pang, MPP Laura Smith, Mayor David West, Deputy Mayor/Regional and Local Councillor Godwin Chan, Councillor Scott Thompson, Councillor Karen Cilevitz, Councillor Joe DiPaola, Councillor Simon Cui and Councillor Michael Shiu.

Events like this remind us of the importance of community and the collective effort required to ensure compassionate care is available to all who need it. Thank you to MPP Daisy Wai and her wonderful team (Vinus Lee, Madison Gordon) for hosting such a fantastic event and for bringing together residents, organizations and community leaders in support of a more connected and compassionate community.

What a wonderful evening at Live in the Plaza! 🎶

Melanie Litwin, Manager of Events, and Deanna Capozzi, Development Associate, were delighted to welcome patrons at the Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts (RHCPA) last night as they enjoyed an evening of live entertainment hosted by The Village of Richmond Hill BIA. Guests also had the opportunity to visit the Hill House Hospice booth and learn more about the compassionate programs and services we provide at no cost.

Hill House Hospice is grateful to be one of the beneficiaries of the 2026 Richmond Hill Craft Beer Festival, hosted by Rotary Club of Richmond Hill Ontario. This fun community event brings together Ontario's best craft breweries, ciders, and spirits, all proudly Canadian.
