Fun facts about northern mockingbirds and brown thrashers

Virtuoso mimic: Northern Mockingbirds (male and female) learn new songs throughout their lives. A male may learn up to 200 songs, while females sing more quietly. They sing different songs in the spring than in the fall.

Brown Thrashers are phenomenal signers, with the capacity to produce more than one note at a time and sing over 1,100 different songs, mostly improvised! They’re also mimics.
