Memory Lane Home Living

Memory Lane Home Living Supporting and empowering families affected by dementia We focus on women because 70% of all dementia diagnoses occur in women. We are located in Richmond Hill.

Memory Lane Home Living is a not-for-profit dementia initiative uniquely designed to improve the daily living of women with a diagnosis. We service the needs of the York Region. We know that in dementia, one size does not fit all. So we offer three different day programs. We offer a community connection for women living with a young-onset dementia diagnosis. We also offer a program for caregivers

and loved ones with a dementia diagnosis (caregivers can include family members or PSWs). Finally, we offer a program for older women that are 80+ with a dementia diagnosis. We offer programming at an affordable price. We offer caregiver support groups for families with loved ones attending our day programs. We also host regular potlucks for the families and women in our programs to connect with others on this journey. We provide overnight respite to our community connections women because we understand the needs of their caregivers. Recently we have been offering a music therapy program in Richmond Hill for caregivers and their loved ones to attend. The program aims to reawaken emotions and memories as well as processing grief. It is led by a registered music therapist. We have a supportive and cooperative housing model for women to live with us. This opportunity occurs for women actively involved in our programming. We offer a monthly information session on the first Monday of each month on Zoom, which provides a detailed description of our holistic model of care. Memory Lane Home Living implements philosophies from the Dementia Montessori method and the Butterfly Model of Care. Some of the most meaningful moments are the quiet ones.

This afternoon, we shared stories, fresh air, and the simple comfort of reading together on the porch.

Reading can be especially meaningful for people living with dementia. It helps spark memories and connections. Reading with your loved one is a great way to slow down, share memorable moments, and reconnect through familiar stories.

If you’ve been searching for a warm and supportive community for your mom, dad, spouse, or loved one, Memory Lane is a place where they can feel welcomed, valued, and truly connected. Our programs are built around meaningful relationships, belonging, and creating joyful experiences together.

We would love to welcome your family into ours. 💛

✨ Dancing Queens at our ABBA Tribute Performance! ✨

Our Music From the Heart choir recently performed at Maple Health Centre, filling the room with familiar songs, colourful clothing, and lots of dancing.

Music has a unique ability to spark memories, bring joy, and connect people. Through performances like these, we strive to provide meaningful experiences for our women and the community.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who sang, danced, and celebrated with us.

Thank you for the music! 🎵

A calm voice, slower pacing, and fewer words can help reduce overwhelm and create emotional safety.

At Memory Lane, we believe supportive communication is part of compassionate care, not just task completion.

Dementia care is not only about assisting with tasks. It is also about interpreting emotional and cognitive cues.

Observation is at the heart of person-centred dementia care. Understanding silence helps us offer the right support with compassion and make a real difference in someone’s life.

🌟 June is Seniors Month! 🌟

This year's theme, Let's Get Moving, celebrates the importance of staying active, engaged, and connected. Something we deeply value at Memory Lane Home Living.

Here, we support women living with dementia through meaningful activities, community connections, and opportunities to stay active in ways that bring joy and purpose.

This Seniors Month, we recognize the strength, wisdom, and contributions of older adults in our community. Together, let's keep moving, connecting, and creating moments that matter.

If you’ve been searching for a warm and supportive community for your mom, dad, spouse, or loved one, Memory Lane is a place where they can feel welcomed, valued, and truly connected.

We would love to welcome your family into ours. 💛

Food has a beautiful way of bringing people together, and connection is at the heart of everything we do. 💛

Last week at Memory Lane, our wonderful volunteer Maria shared her culture with us by teaching everyone how to make fried rice. What started as a cooking demonstration quickly turned into an afternoon filled with laughter, conversation, storytelling, and meaningful connection around the table. ✨

If you’re searching for a warm, engaging, and supportive place for your mom, dad, spouse, or loved one, Memory Lane is a community where meaningful friendships and joyful experiences are part of each day. 💛

We would love to welcome your family into ours.
