Leslie Stouffville Landowners Association (LSLA)

MISSION STATEMENT

LSLA is composed of farmers and landowners, and encompasses about 500 acres of land along Leslie Street corridor, south and north of Stouffville Road, in the City of Richmond Hill. As true stewards of these lands, area landowners formed LSLA to voice its concerns and to change existing outdated, inefficient, and harmful land use

policies for the area. As a non-profit and non-political association, LSLA strives to achieve the following objectives for the benefit of residents of Richmond Hill and neighbouring municipalities:

- Identify, protect and enhance Natural Core and Linkage areas of LSLA lands through proper Oak Ridges Moraine and Greenbelt mapping and designations.

- Enable public access to currently land locked green open spaces and forests to create interconnected trail system.

- Educate the public and inform municipal and provincial government bodies on demise of farming on LSLA lands, caused by recent urbanization and intensification of the area.

- Promote sustainable, safe, and environmentally friendly farming practices. Educate the public and inform municipal and provincial government bodies on incompatibility of farming with evolved realities and urbanized environment of LSLA lands.

- Advocate for creation of provincial linear park system within the Oak Ridges Moraine and Greenbelt Natural Core and Linkage areas.
