Happy International Women in Engineering Day! πŸ› οΈπŸ‘©β€πŸ”§
From infrastructure to innovation, women in engineering are leading and transforming the world around us. Today we celebrate them β€” and recommit to removing the barriers that still stand in their way.
At CCSYR, our Include HER program (funded by Women and Gender Equality Canada) works with employers across York Region to build workplaces where women truly belong β€” with the tools, training, and support to make it last.

We are so proud to be featured in Insights and Encounters, the June 2026 newsletter of Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Toronto! 🌟
This Seniors Month, our Seniors Mental Health and Well-Being Program was spotlighted for the meaningful work happening every Thursday at our Richmond Hill office β€” where older adults come together for creative arts and crafts, gentle movement, friendly conversation, and shared laughter.
The program also offers one-on-one counselling and monthly psychoeducational workshops β€” practical tools to help seniors care for their emotional health with confidence and dignity.
As one of our staff shared: "Every smile reminds us how important connection and engagement are at every stage of life." πŸ’™
We are grateful to CCAT and ShareLife donors whose continued support makes this work possible.

This June, for Seniors Month, we want to share something that has stayed with us. 🀍
Last year, the seniors of Unionville Commons took the time to write this heartfelt note to our very own Sasha (Oleksandra Hrechyna) β€” their craft class facilitator β€” thanking her for her patience, her kindness, and for making every single Monday a day worth looking forward to.
"Thank you for making learning fun. It is very important for us. You are the best kind teacher."
Words like these remind us that what happens in these sessions goes far beyond arts and crafts. It's about showing up for one another. It's about belonging. It's about the quiet but powerful impact of someone who truly cares.
To Sasha, and to every member of our team who brings that same warmth to their work β€” thank you. πŸ’š
And to the seniors of Unionville Commons who took the time to write this β€” we are the ones who are grateful.

β˜€οΈ Happy Summer Solstice! β˜€οΈ

Today is the Summer Solsticeβ€”the longest day of the year and the official start of summer in Canada.

If you're new to Canada, here are a few ways to make the most of the season:

🌳 Visit a local park or conservation area
🚢 Explore your neighbourhood and community events
πŸ’§ Stay hydrated during hot weather
🧴 Remember sunscreen and sun protection
🀝 Connect with friends, neighbours, and community groups

Summer is a wonderful time to discover your community, build new connections, and create lasting memories.

From all of us at CCSYR, we wish you a joyful Summer Solstice and a wonderful season ahead.

This is PTSD Awareness Month β€” and for many newcomers living with autism or other disabilities, trauma is part of their lived experience long before they arrive in Canada.
Displacement, uncertainty, and navigating unfamiliar systems can add real weight to challenges that already exist. What makes a difference is having access to people who understand β€” and who can help.
CCSYR's disABILITY Services support newcomer individuals and families in York Region who are living with disabilities, including autism. We're here to help you find your footing.

Father's Day is this Sunday β€” and before the cards and brunches, we want to talk about something that often goes unspoken. πŸ’™
Fathers show up every single day β€” for their kids, their partners, their families. But behind that quiet strength, many men are carrying more than anyone knows. The pressure to provide, the weight of everyday responsibility, and the expectation to keep going β€” often without asking for help.
This Father's Day, let's remind the dads in our lives that support is available, it's free, and there is absolutely no judgement in reaching out.
CCSYR is a local provider of the Men's Counselling Link β€” free, confidential counselling for men across Ontario. One call to 2-1-1 is all it takes to get connected.
Share this with a dad, a brother, a friend who might need it this weekend. πŸ’™

As June 21 approaches, we recognize β€” a day to honour the cultures, traditions, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and MΓ©tis peoples. πŸͺΆ
At CCSYR, we are committed to offering culturally safe services to everyone we serve β€” whether that is settlement services at public and Catholic schools across York Region, employment support, community events for newcomers, mental health and well-being sessions for seniors, women's empowerment workshops, or programs for families supporting children with autism.
We reflect with gratitude on the knowledge, resilience, and leadership of Indigenous communities across Canada.

Parenting a child with autism is a journey β€” and when you're also navigating a new country, a new language, and an unfamiliar system, that journey can feel overwhelming and isolating. πŸ’™
You are not alone.
CCSYR's One-on-One ASD Consultation is here to support newcomer families raising children with Autism Spectrum Disorder β€” in the language you're most comfortable in. We offer consultations in Cantonese, English, Farsi, Italian, and Mandarin.
We'll work with you and your family to create a support plan, help your child build social, communication, and daily living skills, and connect you to the community resources you need β€” all without judgement, and all at no cost.
We know how hard it can be to ask for help when you're still finding your footing in a new place. We also know how much difference the right support at the right time can make.
