Women in engineering and related fields face a specific set of barriers β€” workplace culture, career advancement, mentorship gaps, discrimination, work-life balance. Our Include HER focus groups surfaced exactly that, straight from the women living it.

Building on those conversations, we're launching a Networking Series for Women Building Each Other Up in Male-Dominated Industries, in partnership with Mohandes.

Looking back at 2025, some of our proudest moments came from WIN and NOW β€” the events where newcomer students found their footing, made new friends, and picked up skills for the year ahead.

Good news: both are coming back. Keep following us for dates and registration details.

Support should never get lost in translation. That's why CCSYR runs programs in the languages our community actually speaks.

This season alone:
πŸ”Ή A newcomer info session offered in Mandarin
πŸ”Ή Mindful Monday for women, offered in Mandarin
πŸ”Ή A Parent Support Group for Cantonese-speaking families in the autism community
πŸ”Ή Design Your Own Life, a Farsi psychotherapy group
πŸ”Ή Women's Sewing Club, a hands-on program offered in Mandarin

Whatever language feels like home, there's a space for you here.

Today is β€” and we're taking a moment to celebrate the people who make CCSYR's work possible.
None of what we do β€” welcoming newcomers, supporting families, building community β€” happens without the volunteers, staff, and partners who show up for it every day. These photos are from our Annual Volunteer Appreciation Night, a small way we say thank you to some of the incredible people behind our mission.
To every volunteer, staff member, and partner who helps us reach out to all: thank you for being part of this work.

🧡 Stitch, connect, grow.
Reminder: Our Women's Sewing Club meets tomorrow! A hands-on, beginner-friendly space where women learn basic clothing alteration and repair skills while connecting with others in a supportive, creative environment.

Some weeks call for quiet reflection. Others call for learning a new skill, or just talking to someone who gets it. This season, HER Path has a place for all of it.

Start with HER Empowerment Journey, a space to reconnect with yourself and rebuild your inner strength, every Friday in Richmond Hill.

Keep going with Mindful Monday, where women in Markham and Richmond Hill are learning real tools for emotional wellness, in English and Cantonese.

Get your hands busy at Women's Sewing Club, where new skills and new friendships are made stitch by stitch, in Mandarin/English.

And end the week at HER Time: Tea & Talk, practicing everyday English over a cup of tea with women walking the same path.

Four programs, one community. See the full lineup and register here: https://ccsyr.org/services/womens-initiatives/?utm_source=FB

The back-to-school transition can be tough for any kid β€” but for neurodivergent youth, it can bring extra anxiety around new routines, new expectations, and big emotions. Our "Find Your Summer Get Together" gives kids ages 10–16 a supportive space to build those skills before September arrives.

Led by a social worker/counsellor, this four-session ABA-based program helps participants recognize feelings, explore the Zones of Regulation, build strategies for managing emotions, and grow friendships β€” all through art, sensory, and drama activities.
