“My foot has changed a lot. I am so happy. They have taken good care of my foot, and my foot is straight!” – Joseph, after receiving treatment for clubfoot

Joseph was born with a left clubfoot. His parents, who are farmers, couldn’t afford the cost of treatment. At 8 years old, Joseph’s foot was severely twisted, making it painful to walk and run. Even so, Joseph was determined. He walked to school, helped his mom care for his younger siblings, tended to his chickens, and helped others when he could. But he and his family worried what his future would be like.

Thankfully, a community worker with our partner in Cameroon, met Joseph and connected him to Hope and Healing International – where compassionate Canadian donors covered the cost of Joseph’s care! Joseph received transportation to the hospital (over 80 km from home), casting, and surgery to straighten his clubfoot.

Now, Joseph is recovering well. He can walk with his foot flat on the ground, and he is getting stronger every day. Joseph is confident that he will soon play football with his friends and become a mechanic someday. And it’s all thanks to friends like you!

We’re grateful for God’s goodness, for the people who walk alongside us, and for every opportunity to bring hope and healing to children living with disabilities in poverty.

We’re especially thankful for you — our donors, prayer partners, staff, and supporters. Your compassion helps children access medical care, grow in confidence, and experience the dignity they deserve.

This summer, Stratis, Amy, and Nicholas visited our incredible local partner in Kenya. They saw our remarkable program team of doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, orthotic technicians, and volunteers in action at a mobile clinic. They met children and families who were surprised to learn they could access quality medical care and support. And they had the joy of meeting a group of children finishing up the “I Can Bounce Back” resilience program — kids who are learning to recognize their strengths and abilities, believe in themselves, and face challenges with greater confidence.

Thanks to the generous support of friends like you, children and families in hard-to-reach communities are getting the care they need — and experiencing hope and healing closer to home.

James has been faithfully supporting Hope and Healing International for almost 20 years — helping children become all God created them to be! He travelled with Hope and Healing in 2024 and was inspired by the many doctors, staff, volunteers, and field workers who work tirelessly to support children in need. He is deeply grateful for the blessings he has received and feels honoured to help children with disabilities access the care they need. James says, “God gave everything for us through the death, burial, and resurrection of His son, Jesus. If we are people who love God, having freely received from His hand, how can we not also freely give too?”
