Heavenly Father, as we near the end of August, we come before You with gratitude for Your faithfulness throughout this month. Thank you for walking with us each day and for Your constant care and provision. Please renew our strength for the weeks ahead.

Where there is tiredness, bring rest.

Where there is uncertainty, bring peace.

Where there are challenges, bring Your wisdom and guidance.

In Jesus’ name,
Amen.

When Mike was diagnosed with cerebral palsy, he was having seizures and wasn’t strong enough to hold his head up. His parents worried. They weren’t sure what to expect, but they were ready to do anything to help him. When the doctors recommended physiotherapy, his mom was hopeful.

“At first, it was hard,” she said, “but then I started seeing changes. Now Mike can balance his neck and even sit on his own.”

Then Mike started using a standing frame, donated by Canadians, and shipped to the hospital where he receives physiotherapy.

Mike’s mom says, “Now he is learning to stand. It gives me so much joy to see him try every day.”

Mike is making slow and steady progress. With the physical and emotional support they have received, he and his family are filled with hope for a brighter future.

Naniya Trevors has been a faithful donor of Hope and Healing International for the last 20 years. She was inspired to give children healinghugs after learning more about the program while she served at church.

“I loved that, not only were you helping the most vulnerable kids in the world, but you were also keeping to Christian principles.”

Thank you, Naniya, for giving kids the vital medical care they need. Your compassion, love, and generosity are helping them become all that God created them to be.

“Why is Ignitius suffering like this? Did I do something wrong?”

Six-year-old Ignitius was a strong, healthy baby. But when he started walking at 2 years old, his mom noticed his legs were bending outward at the knees. She worried that walking would be painful… that one day, he wouldn’t be able to walk at all.

Ignitius’ mom started looking for more information and found out about our partner hospital in Kenya. She felt hopeful as she read that doctors can treat orthopaedic conditions like bowed legs. Ignitius could have an operation to straighten his legs!

Ignitius’ parents took him for an assessment and generous donations made life-changing surgery possible. Ignitius and his family found hope and healing in the prayer, devotional materials, and physical care their son received. Today, Ignitius stands tall and is walking, without pain, into a brighter future.

Look at the joy in Etana’s bright smile! At one time, she had pain in her eyes and struggled to see the board at school. Thanks to a kind donor, she received cataract surgery with life-changing results. When our team asked Etana what she wants to do now that she can see clearly, she said,

“When I grow up, I want to be a doctor because the doctors help sick people.”

It’s easy to imagine Etana all grown up and spreading love and laughter to kids like her who need care.

For a child with a disability, a visit to one of our partner hospitals can feel scary, especially if they need surgery. Thankfully, nurses like Lydia and her coworkers help calm anxious hearts as they treat children and families with kindness and provide compassionate care.

Thank you, Nurse Lydia, for supporting these resilient kids and their families every day! Thank you for putting Jesus’ love into action by giving children life-changing medical care.

When we accept Christ as our Saviour, light starts to move into every area of our lives. Even in sadness, we can find joy. In uncertainty, we can have peace. In trials, He will give us strength. This verse reminds us that as God shines his light upon us, we can reflect that light — bringing kindness, encouragement, and hope to others.

Lord, as we begin this week, may your love shine brightly through us to bring hope to those who need it most.

Child malnutrition rates are dangerously high in Uganda...

Children with disabilities — the children we serve — are the most vulnerable. Approximately 40% of children with disabilities assessed at our partner hospital in Uganda are undernourished.

Lukiya is one of the moms who came to us, desperate for help. Her 8-month-old son wasn’t even 9lbs. She told us, “My child was so small and weak that I felt like he was slipping away”.

For just $47, you can give a malnourished child the vital nutrition support they need. Your gift will provide life-saving nutrition and take-home food packages, in Jesus’ name. You can donate now at hopeandhealing.org/SaveLives

“Grandpa, am I going blind?”

When Samuel was three, he started to show signs of losing his sight. The energetic little boy who loved football, laughing, and bedtime stories now squinted, stumbled, and held his toys close to his face to see them.

At a routine screening, workers at a mobile clinic identified Samuel and referred him to the hospital. He was diagnosed with cataracts in both eyes. Without surgery, Samuel would become permanently blind.

Samuel lived with his aging grandparents who also cared for their daughter who had a disability. With no savings, the cost of treatment for Samuel felt impossible. Samuel’s grandpa asked, “How do I save this child… when everything I own can’t buy even one of his eyes?”

That’s when a compassionate Canadian donor stepped in to cover the cost of Samuel’s sight-saving surgery. That kindness brought hope to a family who had almost given up. Now Samuel sees the faces of his grandparents, runs with his friends without falling, and walks confidently to school. He says, “I can see better now. I’m not afraid anymore.”

Meet Masitula. She may be soft-spoken, but she is confident, and her joyful smile speaks volumes! Her disability doesn’t slow her down. She is strong and helps around home as much as anyone else. And with her new prosthetic legs, she isn’t crawling… she isn’t kneeling… she’s standing tall. Now she can walk to school, jump, and play with her friends.
