Many Métis and settler families have called the Dawson Road region home for many generations that extend to the pre-construction period of the Dawson Trail built 1869-1871. One name that stands out through these generations is Proulx.

You might recognize Paul Proulx Sr. seated at the right of Louis Riel in the famous 1860s Provisional Government photo. Today, that legacy continues! We are proud to announce that the Dawson Trail Museum in Richer, MB, has commissioned Sheldon Proulx —a direct descendant five generations removed—to craft this corduroy road replica for our exhibits.

From ancestor to artisan, history comes alive here. Come see this treasure and many others at the museum. We look forward to seeing you on the trail!

FR: De nombreuses familles métisses et de colons ont élu domicile dans la région du chemin Dawson depuis des générations, et certains, depuis avant la période précédant la construction du sentier Dawson, bâti entre 1869 et 1871. Parmi elles, le nom de Proulx se distingue.

Vous reconnaîtrez peut-être Paul Proulx père, assis à la droite de Louis Riel sur la célèbre photo du gouvernement provisoire des années 1860. Aujourd'hui, cet héritage perdure ! Nous sommes fiers d'annoncer que le Musée du sentier Dawson, à Richer (Manitoba), a commandé à Sheldon Proulx, un descendant direct à la cinquième génération, la réalisation de cette réplique de route en rondins pour nos expositions.

The Dawson trek is just over a month away. Beautiful morning for a test run of the new route. Starting point .canada at the forks. Hope all this years participants are taking advantage of this amazing weather and getting some miles in.
