🔸 Meet the Artist Liwen Zhang 🔸

Liwen Zhang is a self-taught visual artist based in Nordegg, Alberta. A life-long interest in drawing and painting became her full-time commitment in 2023. She has explored various painting mediums and currently works primarily with acrylics.

Her paintings are inspired by a deep connection with the Canadian Rocky Mountains and daily meditation practice. Viewing all aspects of nature as alive and conscious, Liwen sees each tree, flower, rock, mountain, animal, forest, and landscape as carrying a distinct spirit and personality. Liwen’s art blends reality with imagination, using bold, vivid colors to convey the playful, curious, and interconnected energy she experiences in the natural world.

Through her work, Liwen aims to build a visual communication channel that brings the healing vibrations of nature’s beings to viewers. Each work offers a different sense of serenity, joy, and wonder, inviting people to reconnect with nature and rediscover a sense of curiosity and playfulness in everyday life.

Lisa Figueroa studied Classical Animation at Sheridan College in Oakville, Ontario and Commercial Art at George Brown College in Toronto, Ontario.
At the age of twenty four Figueroa travelled by train to Western Canada to attend a wedding and shortly thereafter moved to the Shuswap area of British Columbia.
Figueroa loves the natural world; her art is a record of what she’s witnessed; the beauty and fragility of nature. The Sockeye Salmon runs in the interior of British Columbia have become yearly pilgrimages for her to record the tenacity of this species life journey. Observing and interpreting their struggle on the rivers is the foundation of her current body of work, Swimming Upstream..

Lisa Figueroa works in her studio on the lower level of the Arts Centre in Salmon Arm British Columbia, and lives in Sicamous with her husband in a cedar shingled home that hugs the mountainside and provides glimpses of Mara Lake. www.LisaFigueroa.ca http://lisa_figueroa_studio_gallery

🔸 Meet the Artist: Steve Shannon 🔸

"Growing up in the West Kootenay, Steve Shannon has spent nearly his entire life living next to the Columbia River. His love for the outdoors started early; spending his childhood skiing, biking, hiking, fishing and camping. Steve picked up a camera after high school and started shooting while obtaining a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He quickly realized office life wasn’t for him and was happiest adventuring in the mountains with a camera in hand. Since then his appetite for adventure has only grown, documenting adventures on five continents and exploring some of the greatest mountain ranges, including the Andes, Alps, and Himalayas. His work has been published internationally and received numerous awards, including the Roam awards, the Banff Mountain Film Festival and Red Bull Illume.

After a decade living in Revelstoke, he and his wife now reside in Nakusp where they witness the results of the Columbia River Treaty firsthand. He’s inspired by big mountains, wild places and the polar regions. He hopes his photography can help inspire people to not only get outside and enjoy this beautiful world, but think about ways to help preserve and protect our planet for future generations."
