Here's our Trail Report for Friday, Sept. 18:

It's been a great week for riding, with mostly sunny skies and highs in the low-20s. There was some rain earlier in the week, which has kept the dirt in what our trail crew leader called "epic conditions."The beautiful early-fall weather is forecast to continue through the middle of next week, which is just what we dream of for Bike Fest and the Revelstoke Women's Enduro.

Trail crew spent the week getting the course in shape for the Women's Enduro. This is our biggest event and fundraiser of the year, so the crew likes to put in the effort to make sure they get a 5 Star experience on the trails. On Macpherson, hey put their love into TNT and Root Canal. Over on Boulder, Lower Boondocker, Tall Timber, Loggin' Leftovers, and School's Out all got some a nice buffing.

It's a big weekend for events:
- Friday, Sept. 18, is Bike Fest in the Regent Parking Lot. Come join us for the Mini Bike Show Down, Mega Bike Show Down, hot dogs, and beer. The after-party kicks off at 8:30 p.m. inside the River City Pub, featuring Shuswap funkateers, Marina Funky Time.

- Saturday, Sept. 19, is the Revelstoke Women's Enduro. They will be racing Dusty Beaver, Beaver Tail, TNT, Upper Root Canal, Buff Enuff, Tall Timber, Lower Logging Leftovers, and Lower Boondocker. Come cheer them on! There's also the Revelstoke Gran Fondo taking place on Highway 23 North. They will be cruising through town with a controlled start at 8 a.m. before hitting the highway.

- Sunday, Sept. 20, is the Revy 50 on Mount Macpherson. The route covers most of the network, so come cheer them on if you can.

Here's our trail report for Sept. 11:

It was warmer and drier than expected last week, which made for beautiful riding weather. Over the long-weekend, we got out on Frisby Ridge, 5620, and Boulder. Conditions were great in the alpine, while Boulder was a little dusty. Fortunately, rain early Thursday freshened things up and Macpherson was riding great during our weekly condition check that evening.

Heading into Bikefest Revelstoke, the pleasant fall weather is expected to continue, The forecast is for sunny skies and highs in town around 20 C, with rain on Tuesday.

Trail Crew spent the week on Boulder and Macpherson. On Boulder, they fixed up and packed down the landings on Snakes & Ladders, did some clean up on Redneck's Revenge, and removed trees from Sisyphus, Gravy Bacon, and Iron Lotus. On Macpherson, they brushed Buff Enuff.

The big news is Phase 1 of the Tall Timber rebuild is complete. A new line that bypasses the rutted-out chute was built by volunteers Peter Wojnar and Jacob Tooke. The original line was built when traffic was a lot lower and you could get away with fall-line trails. With mountain biking booming, it was turning into more and more of a rut and was not sustainable. The reroute is more sustainable and more fun to ride. Thank you Peter and Jacob, and to Kona Bikes for supporting their efforts.

It's a busy week in town, with a few races and Bike Fest all coming up. Here's what to watch out for if you're out riding:

Sept. 12: Expedition Canada is hosting a small adventure race, with the mtb portion on Macpherson. Registration is capped at 50 and the racers should be spread out, so it shouldn't impact your ride much.

Sept. 14: The Trans BC Enduro is racing on Frisby and Boulder. The affected trails are UFC, Ultimate Frisby, Upper Boondocker, Redneck's Revenge, and Cash Advance.

Sept. 19: The Revelstoke Women’s Enduro takes place on Macpherson and Boulder. They will be racing TNT, Dusty Beaver, Buff Enuff, Tall Timber, and Lower Boondocker.

Sept. 20: The Race Revelstoke Revy 50 is racing most trails on Macpherson. It will be mostly wrapped by early-afternoon, so plan accordingly if you want to ride there that morning.

The final round of the Tantrum Ride Co. Enduro Series is on Boulder this Wednesday, Sept. 9.

The last round is a big one, with a long climb followed by three downhill stages, with minimal pedalling once you get to the top. The stages are:

1. Snakes & Ladders
2. Lower Iron Lotus
3. Man Quads

Registration is in the Boulder parking lot from 5:30-6 p.m. Entry is $5, RCA membership is required, and lights are highly recommended. We have categories for boys, girls, men, women, and e-bikes. Come on out to challenge yourself, race your friends, and win some great prizes.

Here's our Trail Report for Friday, September 4:

🚵 It rained most of the day on Thursday, but I managed to sneak out for a ride on Sunnyside when the rain let-up late in the afternoon. I'm happy to report incredible riding conditions, with nice, damp soil, but no mud and only a few puddles. It was very nice to see after a long, dry summer with pretty blown out trails. We heard similar positive reports from Boulder, and we expect Macpherson is also riding nicely.

🌤 It looks like some more rain is in store for Friday afternoon and possibly later Saturday as well. The cloudy skies and cool temps in the forecast bode well for trail conditions, though they're perhaps less encouraging if you're hoping for a sunny ride in the alpine. If that's the case, Saturday morning looks like your best bet.

⛏ Trail crew spent most of the week building two new adaptive bridges on Flowdown. We're nearing the end of this major project to make Flowdown and Stimulus accessible to adaptive riders, which has been one of our priorities the last two years. The work has the added bonus of replacing aging infrastructure. We're grateful to the Outdoor Recreation Council of BC and Resort Municipality Infrastructure Program for funding this project that has seen us replace almost 150 metres of bridges and boardwalks.

Trail crew also finished up a final feature on Snakes & Ladders they're calling the "ski jump." Remember to scout it out before you send it. We've put a lot of work into reviving Snakes & Ladders, so let us know what you think.

🏁 Speaking of Snakes & Ladders, it will be featured in our final round of the Tantrum Enduro Series on Wednesday, Sept. 9. We'll announce the complete course on Monday.

Here's our trail report for Friday, Aug. 28:

⛏ If you're going to call a trail Snakes & Ladders, you need more than one ladder, right? Well, trail crew got busy last week building a new drop on the trail, and got started on a second. When complete, there will be four great features to send it on S&L. The crew also reshaped the entrance to the first rock feature while they were there to make it a little easier to hit the ladder roll. We also did a second round of tire recycling, our way of reducing the environmental impact of mountain biking.

Finally, we said farewell to our junior crew member, Ed, who's taking his newfound trail building skills back to England. Ed's been a great addition to the crew this summer and we're grateful for his efforts bolstering our team.

🚵‍♀️ The week started off with the trails in great shape thanks to some heavy rain last weekend. We had some pretty tacky dirt for a bit, but it has dried out after a couple of hot, sunny days mid-week. The best dirt can be found in the forest and on mellower trails.

🌤 The forecast shows rain starting sometime Saturday afternoon and lasting into Sunday, with the potential for more mid-week. The amount of precip varies quite a bit depending on what model you look at, but we're mildly hopeful we've left the summer dust bowl behind. The forecast highs for the week are 24 C on Monday and Tuesday, and then temps are expected to drop again, which bodes well for dirt conditions.

Events:
🏃‍♀️ The Stoked Ultra is at Mount Macpherson this Sunday, Aug. 30. The race will be based out of the Nordic Lodge from 9 a.m. and will be wrapped up 5 p.m., though we expect the runners to be done much sooner. They will be using most of the trails on Upper Macpherson, so keep an eye out if you're riding there that day, and consider using a different parking lot.

🚵 The final round of the Tantrum Enduro Series is Wednesday, Sept. 9, at Boulder. We'll announced the details Monday, Sept. 7.

Revelstoke Bike Fest is coming up in less than 20 days!

Bike Fest is an an action-packed week celebrating cycling in Revelstoke. It features group rides, XC, DH, Enduro, and road races, a classic film night at the Roxy, the Mini and Mega Bike Showdowns, and a party at the Regent featuring Marina Funky Time.

All money raised will support the Revelstoke Cycling Association.

After a nice summer break, racing is back! And thanks to the weekend rain, the dirt is in great shape again.

The Ride Co. Enduro Series resumes this Wednesday, Aug. 26, with a two-stage race on Boulder Mountain.

Stage one is Lower Boondocker into Gravy Bacon.
Stage two is Loggin' Leftovers to School's Out to Home Run

Here's our trail report for Friday, Aug. 21:

⛈ Is this the week it finally rains? There's only been one proper storm since mid-June and our trails are wilting away with the dry conditions. The forecast is calling for 10-20 mm of rain this weekend, with thunderstorms expected Saturday evening and rain continuing into Sunday. We are a little concerned the rain comes all at once. With how dusty things are, an intense storm can just wash away the dirt, whereas an extended period of moderate rain will pack things down nicely. Looking ahead, there's more rain in the forecast starting Wednesday, so we'll keep our fingers crossed.

🦟 The biggest hazard right now is probably the mosquitoes. There's no denying it - they are vicious little buggers right now. There's three ways to avoid them: 1. Cover up; 2. Douse yourself in DEET.; and 3. Just keep moving. I guess you could just stay home, but where's the fun in that?

🌫 We're also still experiencing haze from wildfire smoke. Conditions vary from day-to-day, so check the air quality index and smoke forecast before you get out.

⛏ Our trail crew started the week by heading up Frisby Ridge to install a trail camera and they gave the trail a good rake while they were up there. They then completed the adaptive bridge on Stimulus. This was a major undertaking that required lots of rock work to ensure it can hold up to the spring freshet. We kept the original bridge because, as one rider commented: "my 5 year old thinks it’s really super sick."

🏁 Reminder that the third round of the Tantrum Enduro Series is this Wednesday, Aug. 26, at Boulder Mountain. We’ll post the course on Monday.
