🍅 We’re just over half way through our summer market season!
🍅 We installed 2 green houses at the Illecillewaet garden (with one more coming at the Revelstoke Food Commons )
🍅 Workshops! Jess Booth has done seed starting, kombucha, canning and raspberry taming, beekeeping… with more to come including seed saving, garlic planting, tomato harvesting and a series at the farmers market!
🍅 Food Commons workshops! Plant medicines with Herbal Products|Sherri Mariash & natural dyeing with jamie kraus (settler) ColumbiaShuswapInvasiveSpecies and cedar stripping for the smokehouse.
🍅 Kids camp is half done!
🍅 We’ve launched the local food fund with CC Revelstoke Society

There’s so many other wins - big and small. The team is crushing it, and we’re only half way done!

Food coming out of the Food Commons demonstration farm today! Last year, this was a barren piece of industrial land, with our team unsure if food would produce in the first couple of years.

With some low-till techniques, cover crops, and natural composting - food is producing in the first year! Some crops are growing better than others, teaching us what nutrients the land still needs.

These crops are getting dropped off at the local Food Bank for their customers. Want to get involved? Email [email protected]
