Hello SaskBPN fam. We’re excited to offer a new way for you to show your support and spread awareness for the Saskatchewan Bereavement Photography Network. We are still doing our annual raffle sale in October, but we wanted another offer that we can continue throughout the rest of the year.

For a $20 donation, you'll receive a custom car or business window decal featuring our logo. These will be 8x8. Each decal costs us around $12.50 to produce so the extra little bit goes straight into our ongoing fund. Your support allows us to provide the physical photo albums for families who have experienced loss, as well as cover mileage for our volunteer photographers traveling to out of town sessions and meet other unexpected costs tied to running this nonprofit.

We thought this was a great idea because not only is this a conversation starter, it helps others know that this support exists. Please message or comment if you are interested in purchasing. And if so, how many! Thank you for being part of this network.

We’re expanding across the province, but we need more team members!

Saskatchewan Bereavement Photography Network (SaskBPN) has been holding space here in Regina, and it’s time to extend our services further across Saskatchewan. As our name implies.

Right now, we are looking for volunteer photographers in Saskatoon***, Swift Current, North Battleford, Lloydminster and Prince Albert.

This is on-call work, supporting families through infant loss, stillbirth and palliative/hospice care. Your role would be to document sessions for these families. Attention to detail, compassion and professionalism is a must. You are essentially a volunteer associate photographer, as we handle all of the editing and gallery delivery.

If this feels in alignment with your heart, please send a message here and we can chat a little about you, your work and a little bit why you’re feeling called to be a part of our nonprofit. All of our photographers do have experience with loss, and this is something that we do feel is essential to understand the weight of how important this work is.

Please share this post (and maybe comment where in the province you are sharing this post) so that this post helps us reach the future rest of our team!

***Our Saskatoon photographer should only expect to document families in palliative/hospice care, as our friends over at Empty Arms covers infant loss and stillbirth photography for the city of Saskatoon.

As of today, March 17, 2026, Saskatchewan Bereavement Photography Network (SaskBPN) is officially incorporated as a Saskatchewan Nonprofit. For those of you who do not know who we are or what we do, we are a team of photographers offering donation-based (including free) services for families experiencing loss in Regina, Moose Jaw and across the province. This includes pregnancy and infant loss, stillbirth, palliative, hospice and even funeral coverage. These can take place in-hospital, at the care home and in your home.

Our team consists of (pictured left to right) Chelsea Plosker, Shalissa Elder, Cara Wray and Maddison Falk. We are truly blessed to have the capacity to document these moments for families, and to have a community that continues to make donations so that we have the funds to provide families with photography and the physical photo albums.

To spread the good news, and to ensure that our nonprofit reaches every corner of the province, please leave a comment below for our team to see! If you don't already, consider following us here and on Instagram .

Sometimes it’s weird showing up here, not knowing how to present our team online. When we were doing our branding session for SaskBPN, the overall vibe was “let’s showcase the connection that we have as a team, be happy but not too happy because then it seems like we aren’t grieving or showing up as sympathetic.”

Since doing more sessions, and realizing just how some people do grieve, I’ve decided: We’re going to show up as ourselves. A lot of the families I have worked with in the last few years have used humour to cope, and there is nothing wrong with that.

So, here is a photo of Chelsea .photography and (myself) Shalissa , just being ourselves. All of us at SaskBPN are light hearted and try to make light out of every situation—including those that revolve around death. Here’s to eliminating the idea that joking around and being silly makes us show up as insincere or unprofessional. It makes us human. Personally, I think human-to-human connection is so important in this line of work.

Have a beautiful week everyone! Please remember that if you, or someone you know is in need of bereavement photography services, our line is available 24/7. For urgent inquiries, (306) 537-3032 and non-urgent: [email protected].

As 'Where We Part' transitions into the Saskatchewan Bereavement Photography Network (SaskBPN), we are moving toward becoming an official nonprofit and are seeking one to two additional board/volunteer member(s) to support this next phase.

This is someone who feels aligned with grief and understands how important this heartwork is. You do not need to be a photographer for this role, but is a bonus. Experience in nonprofits or community organizations is a bonus, but also not necessary. You will be expected to meet once a month, participate in conversation, be a supportive person for the team and attend community events as a team. An interviewing process will take place with our founder throughout the month of February.

At SaskBPN, we pride ourselves in the amazing group of girls we have on board who have become like a little family. This is extremely important to us. This is a volunteer position as we build a province-wide network supporting families who are experiencing loss, whether pregnancy loss, stillbirth or the loss of any loved one.

If you’re interested or would like more information, please send us a message on Facebook or on Instagram .

Last week, two of our photographers provided coverage for this beautiful womans chapel funeral in Estevan. Not always, but often, we arrive when a loved one has already passed. Even still, we can see and feel the love in the room. Vicky had a family who deeply loved her, and it was such an honour to document her families final farewell.

If you have had SaskBPN (or Shalissa, prior to the founding of SaskBPN) come in and provide bereavement photography for you throughout the last six years, and you are comfortable doing so, please consider leaving us a review about your experience. Even a handful would help give credibility to our project and help future families have the confidence in inviting us into their most sacred spaces.

(Caption by Shalissa Elder ) This week, my grandmother died. While her health wasn’t the greatest, the suddenness of it still shocked the system. I put together a slideshow that we played at the luncheon following the funeral, and that consisted of hours of going through her photos. Even though our family got to say goodbye, I truly feel that experiencing her life through photos (dating back before my existence) was such a nice way of having closure. It still feels heavy, and deep, but I find comforting in the fact that I have more than just memories of her life. She isn’t just in my mind and my heart, I can physically hold memories of her. I say this time and time again, but PHOTOGRAPHY IS SO IMPORTANT. While I’m a photographer and obviously want to sell you my services (that’s my job), please know that any photo, regardless of its quality is going to be cherished and valuable to the generations beyond you. Yes, book the family session, but more importantly, take out your own phone and just take the photos—even if you don’t think they’re ‘worth’ documenting. Someone will.

Pictured: My grandma Yvonne Bauche (1948-2026) with my cousin in the early 90s. My grandma loved all seven of her grandkids, so having these photos of us with her in earlier years of our lives is so, so special.

For the last six years, our founder has been offering no-charge bereavement photography for infant loss, stillbirth and bereaved families in Regina, Moose Jaw and surrounding communities. Earlier in 2025, Shalissa Elder created Saskatchewan Bereavement Photography Network (SaskBPN) as a project that now includes three other volunteer photographers: Chelsea Plosker, Maddison Falk and Cara Wray. Since founding this project, we have received one call for services needed. One. While this might sound like good news to some, knowing how many stillbirth, infants in-hospital, sick children and seniors who have become palliative were being documenting per month makes this number concerning. The desire to expand was due to the need of expansion. The thought is that the word might not be out as wide-spread as it should (and could) be. Between the four of us here at SaskBPN, we have the capacity to offer this service much more than we are right now, and we hope to. Please, please share our project as often as you are able. We are here on Facebook, as well as on Instagram () so share our page on whichever platform you prefer and make sure to mention us whenever you hear about loss or expected loss so that no family has to go without.

This holiday season, all four of us here at Saskatchewan Bereavement Photography Network are holding space for families experiencing loss and remembering their loved ones. While it might not feel like it now, by this time next holiday season, the grief of losing them won't feel as heavy. We know it may never go away, but it won't always feel like the lump in your throat like it does now. Merry Christmas and happy holidays to our SaskBPN family.
