Four men who combined have spent more than 100 years working for NHL teams will share in the Ace Award when the non-profit Professional Hockey Scouts Foundation holds its annual Wall of Honour induction dinner in Okotoks on Aug. 28.

Lorne Davis, Del Wilson, Ted Hampson and Marshall Johnston will be honoured on an evening when 21 other scouts will be inducted into the Wall of Honour.

The Ace Award is presented in honour of the late Garnet (Ace) Bailey, a longtime NHL scout. He was the Los Angeles Kings’ director of pro scouting and was en route to their training camp when the plane he was on was hijacked and deliberately flown into the South Tower of New York City’s World Trade Centre on Sept. 11, 2001. This year’s recipients are recognized by those in the scouting fraternity for their dedication to the profession and their willingness to help those who were working to follow in their footsteps.

Big news for our Foundation!

The Western Canada Professional Hockey Scouts Foundation is now the Professional Hockey Scouts Foundation (PHSF) — a name that reflects our vision to grow beyond Western Canada and expand our impact across Canada and beyond.

We’re also proud to announce that PHSF is now an official registered charity with the Canada Revenue Agency, allowing us to do even more to support scouts, communities, and the game of hockey.

Exciting things ahead!

Les Lazaruk the longtime play-by-play voice of the WHL’s Saskatoon Blades, will receive the Bob Ridley Golden Microphone Honourarium at the 2026 Wall of Honour induction banquet, the Western Canada Professional Hockey Scouts Foundation announced today.

This award, presented annually by the non-profit foundation, recognizes a member of the print or broadcasting profession for their dedicated years of service at the major junior level.

“I am shocked . . . thrilled . . . and honoured,” Lazaruk said when informed that he was to receive the Golden Microphone. “Are you sure you couldn’t find someone more deserving?”

No, Les, we couldn't.

Congratulations to Bouchier!

The Western Canada Professional Hockey Scouts Foundation extends heartfelt congratulations to Bouchier on being named the inaugural business of the year by the Canadian Council for Indigenous Business (CCIB).

According to the CCIB, the award “honours the achievements and contributions of an Indigenous business that significantly supports and enriches the economic, social and cultural well-being of Indigenous communities.”

We’re proud to have had Bouchier as our title sponsor for the “Celebrating Indigenous Hockey Legends” banquet on Sept. 30 in Regina. Because of your partnership, we were able to honour Indigenous hockey legends who have inspired generations, all while raising funds for three Regina-based organizations — KidSport Saskatchewan, the Circle Project and the Ranch Ehrlo Society's Outdoor Hockey League. It was all part of a powerful night of legacy, community, cultural pride and Indigenous excellence.

Thank you, Bouchier, for your leadership and dedication to the community.

What an incredible honour! Tonight, our co-founders Nicole Bourque-Bouchier and David Bouchier accepted the CCIB Indigenous Business of the Year Award on behalf of the Bouchier team.
As the first recipient of this award, it honours not just success but purpose, people and community impact.

We’ve received many awards for leadership, safety, growth, and performance, but this one reflects our values, our community and our people. It’s deeper and acknowledges how we do business — grounded in culture, guided by community, and built by our people.

To our amazing team, clients, and community partners — thank you. This achievement belongs to all of us.
