Every week this spring, SaskAbilities day program participants got to unwind with art and mindfulness sessions at the Neil Balkwill Civic Arts Centre.

Each session starts with a mindfulness exercise led by instructor Lin who then guides participants through a new art project like the tie-dyed t-shirts and group fabric painting at a recent session.

It’s a perfect way to relax the mind the flex some creative muscle at the same time!

When barriers are removed, possibilities grow.
This week is National AccessAbility Week, a time to celebrate accessibility, inclusion, and communities where everyone belongs. 💙
Accessibility helps create opportunities. It fosters confidence, encourages connection, and supports people in participating fully in their communities. It allows individuals to pursue their goals, share their talents, and contribute in meaningful ways.
At SaskAbilities, we see the impact of inclusion every day. Through our programs and services, individuals experiencing disability are building skills, pursuing goals, creating connections, and discovering new possibilities.
While progress has been made, there is still important work ahead.
👉 Together, let's continue building inclusive communities where individuals experiencing disability have every opportunity to participate, contribute, and thrive.

Red Shirt Day is June 3!

Established by Easter Seals Canada in 2019, this annual event takes place on the Wednesday of National AccessAbility Week each year.

Red Shirt Day® is more than just wearing red; it’s also about making a commitment to remove physical, attitudinal, and systemic barriers to accessibility and inclusion in your school, workplace, or community.

Anyone can participate! Put on your favourite red shirt, take some photos, and make a pledge to help improve accessibility and inclusion in your community. Then, post your photos and your pledge on social media with the hashtags:

Now here is a unique project the talented sewing team at SaskAbilities has taken on.

They are creating beekeeping suits for From Hives to Honey, a beekeeping equipment retailer and commercial honey operation based in Clavet. Our team made these incredible coveralls with removable veil and a beautifully embroidered logo.

We’ve helped create commercial products for all sorts of industries from health care to construction. And now we can add beekeeping to that list too!
