50th Anniversary Alumni Game – Post‑Match Honours
The Grads marked the 50th Anniversary Alumni Game by absolutely flattening the Highlanders RFC in a decisive 81–5 statement win. The Old Boys in attendance got exactly what they came for: classic Grads rugby built on grit, collisions, and zero mercy. Tradition upheld. Standards maintained. Pride earned.
Humble Hammer Award
Awarded to Linden “Popeye” Leugner
Popeye delivered a masterclass in old‑school, body‑on‑the‑line rugby. He dominated both sides of the ball, smashing attackers with brutal tackles and hammering carriers from scrum half like it was a personal hobby. This was vintage Grads rugby, and Popeye set the tone from whistle to whistle.
Cindy Kobayashi Ass‑Slapping Hit of the Game
Awarded to Rylan Geiger
Rylan came off the bench as an impact player and immediately started rearranging Highlander rib cages. Several unsuspecting opponents learned very quickly that fresh legs can be a dangerous thing. Back‑to‑back weeks for this award says everything.
Sexist Play of the Game (The Skirt)
Awarded to Nolan Tabak
Nolan stacked up tallies all day, but one moment stood above the rest. A spin‑o‑rama in the in‑goal area that left the defender grasping at air before Nolan calmly dotted down the try. Fancy footwork, fancy finish, fancy outfit earned.
Mallet of Honour (Peer‑to‑Peer Award)
Presented by Jake Murray to Nolan Tabak
Nolan’s versatility was on full display. He stepped into multiple positions, tackled everything that moved, slotted kicks, and ran in tries at will. When your prop teammate chooses you, it means you did the real work. Nolan did exactly that.
Horn of First Blood
Awarded to Sam Schlitz
Sam earned the honour by scoring his first try as a Grad, sealing it with a drink from the Horn. A milestone moment and the first of many to come.
