Exciting announcement! We're partnering with UBC Faculty of Land and Food Systems and Cultivated Food Labs to create a new skills program combining academic courses, hands-on training and mentorship for food production and value-added agriculture! Leveraging our complementary expertise, the program will help newcomers enter the sector, give workers specialized knowledge and networks to advance careers, and build applied skills Canada’s food sector needs.

Supported by Protein Industries Canada, this initiative contributes to their Road to $25 Billion vision to grow Canada’s plant-based food, feed and ingredient sector.

Canada’s domestic food production and value-added agriculture opportunity is growing, bringing with it a need for more skilled talent.

BC Food & Beverage UBC Faculty of Land and Food Systems and Cultivated Food Labs are helping the country fill this need by developing and delivering a new coordinated skills training program.

By coming together to provide students and working professionals with a program that can help them advance their careers in the food space, these partners are providing companies across Canada with the workforce needed to help reach new growth potential while supporting Canada’s opportunity.

Artificial Intelligence and fermentation each have significant potential in the food production and value-added agriculture sector—which is why BC-based companies Crush Dynamics Inc. & Atomic 47 Labs are bringing the two technologies together to launch a new AI-enabled fermentation control system to improve the ingredient development process.

With a focus on improving efficiencies and reducing waste, the companies are helping make Canada’s food production and value-added agriculture sector more globally competitive, while strengthening our country’s economy and domestic food security.

This National Indigenous History Month, Protein Industries Canada celebrates the contributions Canada’s Indigenous Peoples have made to Canada’s food system.

Traditional knowledge and practices can play a significant role in helping Canada reach its full food production and value-added potential.
One of the many ways Canada can increase access to these traditional practices is through Indigenous-focused investment.

Together, Alexander Business Centre LP, Saskatoon Tribal Council (STC), Whitecap Dakota Government and File Hills Qu'Appelle Tribal Council, through a Protein Industries Canada project, are making such investment a priority through the establishment of an Indigenous investment group, focused on investing directly into Canadian food and ingredient processors.

This investment, and the access to Indigenous knowledge and practices it will help move forward, is an important part of the foundation of Canada’s potential.

A stronger domestic food supply system starts at the farm level.

Under a new Protein Industries Canada project, AGI3, Agi3 Risk Services Ltd. and Aon Reinsurance Solutions Canada are modernizing and optimizing Canada’s crop insurance system—developing a platform that uses AI to better connect public Business Risk Management programs with targeted private insurance solutions.

This increase in efficiency at the farm level will ripple through the value chain, helping increase Canada’s global competitiveness in the food market.

Un système d'approvisionnement alimentaire national plus solide commence au niveau de l'exploitation agricole.
