Here's the press release we just sent out about the Cathedral Village Forest Project's THIRD Spring Planting Day. They have over 2,000 trees and shrubs they need to get into the ground this Saturday June 6. If you want to help or just want to learn more about this project, I'll put the link in the comments.

Cathedral Village Forest Project Planting More Trees!
Spring Planting June 6
For Immediate Release
The Cathedral Village Forest Project has 2,250 wee trees and shrubs that are in need of a home and this June 6, teams of volunteers will be planting them in the soil of Les Sherman Park.
This huge gift of plants is thanks to SaskPower which provides trees and shrubs to communities across Saskatchewan thanks to their Shand Greenhouse Seedling program.
Media are invited to come out and talk with Forest volunteers, take photos and even get down in the dirt and plant a few trees themselves!
βTree planting is hard work but itβs also a lot of fun. Especially because itβs a great way to get to know your neighbours,β says Planting Day organizer, Chris Sale. βWe wonβt turn away anyone who wants to grab a trowel and pitch in. That includes local reporters and photographers who want some first experience with what weβre doing.β
Planting will start on Saturday June 6 at 9am and Forest volunteers will be putting seedlings in the ground until theyβre all planted. (Estimated to be around 3pm.) Muster point is near 15th Ave and King Street.
The Cathedral Village Forest Project is also teaming up with local schools on June 5 to provide classes opportunities to learn about biology and forestry for the School Planting Day where young folk will each be planting seedlings. This will also be an excellent opportunity to get photos of happy young volunteers!
The Cathedral Village Forest Project was started in 2024 by local residents and is supported by the Cathedral Village Community Association. The goal is to plant 7,311 trees β one for every Cathedral resident β in a 1.7 hectare community forest along Wascana Park in Les Sherman Park. Establishing an urban forest in this location will create new educational and recreational opportunities in our community as well as a habitat for local wildlife.
