Following the devastating fire that destroyed the UNF Hall and its contents, the Ukrainian National Federation Regina Branch launched a fundraising campaign to help ensure that Ridna Shkola can reopen in September and that the branch can continue serving our community while the insurance process is underway.

Funds raised will help replace essential items lost in the fire, including furniture, teaching resources, technology, and other equipment, as well as assist with costs associated with temporary facilities and the continued operation of our programs.

As we move forward, we are transitioning from our GoFundMe campaign to donations through the UNF Foundation, which is able to issue official charitable tax receipts for eligible donations.

If you would like to support the restoration of our branch, please donate through the UNF Foundation and ‼️be sure to select the UNF Regina Branch Restoration Fund‼️ when making your donation.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us so far and to those who continue to stand with us. Your generosity, kindness, and encouragement mean more than words can express. There is still much work ahead, but with the support of our community, we know we will rebuild.

Thank you to everyone who joined us today.

It meant a great deal to us to see so many of you, to share the official information, and to have an open and honest conversation.

Thank you for your questions and for the offers of support, particularly regarding future accommodations for Ridna Shkola. Your willingness to help reminds us how strong and caring our community truly is.

We will be sharing an official communication that can be distributed more broadly in the coming days. For now, we simply want to express our heartfelt gratitude.

Sorrow shared among so many does not weigh quite as heavily.

A special thank you to the German Club Regina for opening your doors to us. Your kindness, generosity, and support are truly invaluable.

Ukrainian National Federation Regina suffers devastating fire
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – June 15, 2026

On Saturday, June 13, 2026 a devastating fire occurred at the Ukrainian National Federation (UNF) Regina Branch hall located at 1737 St. John Street. While the building remains standing and from the outside looks untouched, the interior is destroyed. The Ukrainian community has been deeply affected by this event.

The UNF hall has been home to generations of Ukrainian families and since the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022, has been a hub for newcomers who fled the war. The focus on building a robust Ukrainian community and promoting and maintaining Ukrainian culture at the hall has remained steady since UNF Regina was formally established in the early 1930s.

“Celebrating the Ukrainian community and culture at our hall has been central to the Regina branch. The hall has served as a meeting place for the public and Ukrainians.” said UNF Vice-President Sean McEachern. “The hardwood floors have seen hundreds of dances, socials, weddings, and banquets. It’s hosted public theatre and movie showings and is home to the Chaban Ukrainian Dance School, Ridna Shkola (a Ukrainian language and culture school for children), UNF Youth, Chumaky Dragon Boat team, and various social and cultural events.”

As the community works through this loss, the UNF Board of Directors will be exploring options for the future. Over the coming weeks, the board’s focus will be ensuring programming like Ridna Shkola and other events and activities continue after the summer months. Those plans will be shared once they are established. To do this, the UNF will need the support and commitment from the community. This includes building the fiscal capacity to help bridge the organization to the next phase and volunteers to be successful.

If you want to help the UNF during this challenging time, please consider making a financial donation to our cause. The UNF greatly appreciates any amount you can afford.

Donating is easy. You can use your credit card on our Donate to Support UNF Regina Go Fund Me (link in the comments) or mail a cheque to: UNF Regina – 183 Wells Street Regina, SK S4R 5Z6. Another option is e-transfer to [email protected] with the memo Support.

As the UNF Regina Branch is not a registered charitable organization, contributions are not eligible for a tax receipt.

Thank you for helping UNF Regina ensure our city maintains a vibrant and welcoming community for families of Ukrainian heritage.
