Our Story
The Al Ritchie Community Association (ARCA) is a registered charity and non-profit organization that has been actively advocating on behalf of the Al Ritchie community since 1987. Well the time has come to say goodnight. We packed a whole lot of community into today and we saw families smile together, kids giggle and get their faces painted. We saw people of all generations come together to make room for our community. We had live music, celebrated art and artists, danced and allowed ourselves to be together in enjoyment and laughter.

That felt good. To everyone who helped, thank you. To everyone who showed up, thank you. To all the bands, artists, partners and volunteers thank you. To the sponsors who paid the bills and made sure we had some left over to pay for other great things we do, thank you.

Mostly, to all of you who include the Al Ritchie Community Association in your life today, thank you.

We love what we do and who we are, and we know that together we can all face this sometimes difficult journey we are on if we do it together.

We promise to be back next year for the next Rock the Ritchie and we also promise that our food pantry and free clothing shop will also be there on Monday. Our wellness centre will be there on Tuesday and we would love to help all our kiddos and moms and dads, and grandma and grandpa in any of the other things we do every week.

We will keep showing up, but we can only do it if you help us.

Here we are... the day of these two events for all of you. The Al Ritchie Community Association is so thankful that so many of you have chosen to come spend the day with us.

The day starts at 1 pm with our (by donation) family event. Bring food, clothes or money and spend the day from 1 to 3 pm with your family accessing ballon artists, face painters, glitter stencils, our family photobooth so you can capture amazing memories, an inflatable, crafts and of course some water and popcorn for everyone. Thank you to YQR Photobooth, Pat Roth Entertainment, A1 Rent-Alls and our volunteers who made this portion of the day possible.

Next, we launch into our Rock the Ritchie event with the doors opening at 4:30 pm. Please note that this is a 19+ event and no minors are allowed. We have 5 bands stepping up to support our cause:

Sneak peek. Hello everyone. We spent the day getting the arena ready for tomorrow (see pictures). We are so excited to have you all spend the night with us. We had more community members reach out to sponsor more free tickets. Ten free tickets were added to the free neighbor ticket category. A reminder these will go fast. A reminder that our family event (445 14th Avenue) starts at 1 pm and runs until 3 pm. Then our Rock the Ritchie event opens its doors at 4:30 pm and the first band starts at 5 pm. Here is the band order and their start times in case you were hoping to show up for a specific band.

We cannot beleive we are less than 24 hours to our fundraiser events.

Family event on Saturday from 1 to 3 pm at the Core Ritchie Neighbourhood Centre (445 14th Avenue). We are asking our families to bring a donation to get in. We will accept cash, clothing or food to support our programs.

All profits from the event will support all that the Al Ritchie Community Association does each year.

This last year we had 55,000 people access our programs and services. We handed our 125,000 pounds of food, and 119,000 pounds of clothing. In total we handed out almost 2 Million dollars worth of clothing and food because you all chose us cause you know we give it all back to the community for free.

93% of all our programs and services we offered last year were free to our community.

UPDATE: WE HAVE ADDED 10 MORE TICKETS SINCE MORE DONORS SPONSORED THEM.

What a gift... many people in Regina and surrounding area have chosen to donate to our event in hopes of letting others attend the Rock the Ritchie event even though they cannot. We have 20 tickets up for grabs for FREE because generous donors in our community have chosen to donate to allow their neighbors to attend. These are first come, first served and are limited to sets of two tickets to allow more families and couples to attend.

From all of us at the Al Ritchie, thank you for all those surrounding us and our event.

Well everyone. We are in the home stretch. Only two days until our event. A reminder that our tickets are still $25 and we hope more of you will choose to come out.

Please note that tickets will also be available the night of the event at the door so for those of you who are going to the game, you are welcome to come take in the last couple bands of the night with us.

To everyone who shared my post, thank you. To those who chose this place to insult or attack us please know that we have hundreds of people behind us and thousands that we serve each year regardless of your support.

Working in this space and having the mind set of being of service which the staff and I all have is born from our own lived experience, our need to have accessed these services in our lifetimes and our desire to meet every person who enters our site with dignity and respect. For me, this fundraiser is a passion project for a charity who is doing more than it should, touching more people than we are tasked to do, but knowing that thousands more need what we are offering. We show up every day, we love what we do, we surround ourselves with those who share our values and we make sure dignity and caring are at the heart of what we are. For everyone who has not taken the time to see us as we really are… I’m saddened by your loss of empathy to those around you. Hurting a place like us because of a rider game, ai images or the cost of a ticket mean you missed the point.

I’m here saying that I’m here for my 6 year old for whom I am trying to build a better world for, one action, one person and one day at a time. So instead of tearing each other down, why don’t you come be part of the amazing story our association is writing with the many many citizens of Regina who are choosing to be there for each other. My hand is outstretched to each of you in an offering of collaboration and caring. Take it, don’t take it… you choose. I make my choice every day when I wake up, wake up my little one and honour those I’ve lost, by being of service to this city and its people every day.

My heart is full even if your many words or comments sometimes hurt me and my team. Thanks to all those who have spoken in our defence. You will and have each and every one of you helped me and our Al Ritchie team be reminded why we do what we do.

Ta ta for now and may we continue being neighbours by chance but a community by choice. I’ve made my choice, make yours…
