Looking for an unforgettable summer for your child? Registration is now open for the Al Ritchie Community Association's Summer Camp!

Each week features a unique theme packed with fun, learning, adventure, games, crafts, outdoor activities, special guests, and opportunities to make new friends!

🧥🪝 WE NEED MORE CLOTHES HANGERS! 🪝🧥

Our community clothing room is working overtime right now, and we need your help!

We currently have approximately 300 bags of clothing waiting to be sorted and hung, and we are quickly running out of hangers from our current stock.

We are looking for:
✅ Adult hangers
✅ Children’s hangers
✅ Plastic hangers
✅ Wooden hangers
✅ Pant & specialty hangers
✅ All sizes and all types!

Every hanger donated helps us keep our clothing area organized, accessible, and welcoming for the thousands of community members who rely on these supports each year.

Donations can be dropped off at the Al Ritchie Community Association during regular hours.

Victoria Day Closure Notice

Please note that the Al Ritchie Community Association will be CLOSED on Monday, May 18th in recognition of Victoria Day.

Super proud to share the story of Eric. He helped us streamline all that we do for tracking our food and clothing shop statistics. Thank you to Neil Squire for providing us the opportunity to meet him. We are proud to say that we still are in contact with Eric and he is helping us find other tools to streamline all that we do.

The Al Ritchie Community Association hired Eric for a work placement through our Empower3D employment program for youth with disabilities. Eric’s task was to create a more streamlined, automated process for food and clothing donations.

Eric, who has cerebral palsy, graduated from university with a bachelor’s degree in software systems engineering in 2024. However, he had missed out on many of the typical networking and co-op opportunities due to the COVID pandemic, leaving him without the experience and connections he needed to find employment in his field.

He eventually devised a system where volunteers could input all of the information — the weight of the food and clothes going out, the postal code of the recipient — into a program on a tablet, and then everything is inputted and tabulated automatically on a spreadsheet.

“It basically has streamlined tens — if not hundreds — of hours of work for us on an annual basis,” shares Al Ritchie Community Association Executive Director Denis Simard. “We wouldn’t have been able to do it without [Empower3D].”
