In Canada, Aboriginal people have faced discrimination & oppression due to a lack of awareness & understanding regarding their history & stories. The (intergenerational) effects of colonialism have caused many identities to be broken, fragmented & lost. It’s important, not only for gay, le***an, bisexual, trans & two spirits t
o express identity, but for all people to have this right.. Globally, those who don’t identify as heterosexual can potentially face oppression, discrimination & a multitude of social problems & harms. The intersection of oppression, based on class, race, gender, sexuality, age, ability, etc can lead to more challenges & more the barriers to over come. The 2sLGBTQI community can relate to BIPOC by understanding the oppression and barriers that must be overcome. They can also related to the Suffrage movement, as well as other social movements that have stepped up in the past to fight for and speak up about social change. We stand for social change and justice along with Idle No More!
