The Fujioka delegation visited Regina to celebrate the friendship between our two cities. We had the pleasure of welcoming them to The Safe Café, where they learned more about The Safe Café and Catering, its role as a social enterprise, and how its work supports young people through Street Culture Project.

The youth we work with each have their own story, strengths, goals, and dreams. Some may be experiencing housing instability, mental health or substance-use challenges, involvement with the justice system, or barriers to education, employment, and basic needs.

Our role is to meet them where they’re at and support them as they work toward where they want to go.

Because behind every challenge is a young person with their own experiences, strengths, and hopes for the future.

What happens when young people are given the space to speak honestly?
They told us what makes them feel unsafe. They told us what support they’re missing. They also shared what safety, belonging, and community look like to them.

Heart to Heart brings those voices together into an action plan that will help guide how SCP continues supporting Indigenous youth in Regina. This action plan synthesizes that youth-led feedback and translates it into concrete next steps for SCP — identifying where we already deliver on what youth need, and where we will grow our programming in partnership with the community.

This is only the beginning of the conversation.
