The City is dropping off free filters, pitchers and info about all the filtration options, at affected homes that haven't accessed the program. We had asked for this follow-up in our last presentation. Please encourage your neighbours to make use of the program -- but also keep asking for lead lines to be removed!

Approved at Executive Committee and on their way to City Council this Wednesday! These are suggestions GTLO made in their presentation, which were subsequently adopted and passed unanimously by Exec Committee. It reads:

Submit an LSC report to Council at minimum every year;
Conduct a review of the financing program’s future, with a view to adding cost-sharing elements and inflationary protection for future applicants;
Increase face-to-face interactions with families at risk who have not accessed filters or replacement water, potentially coordinated with helping agencies, health centres, schools and other community supports, and put a targeted focus on intervention and providing filters and education opportunities for rental properties, as the most vulnerable families are likely to be renters;
Explore and report back by Q4 2026 on involving schools and community centres on issues such as clean water;
Explore a partnership with public health and the school boards;
By Q4 2026, prepare an updated report on adjusted inflation increases and what would be required to rapidly advance LSC replacement;
Explore how to enhance and refine communication to residents based specifically on lead levels, ensuring communication tools meet diverse residents where they are at;
Consult with community (e.g. landlords) on the development of a partnership program and incentive program to install at-source filtration.
