Lower Souris Watershed Committee Inc.

Lower Souris Watershed Committee Inc. Grassroots organization in SE Saskatchewan devoted to assisting watershed residents in protecting the The Lower Souris Watershed Committee Inc.

The Lower Souris Watershed Committee (LSWC) is a grassroots organization made up of members of our 3 sub-watershed groups, The Four Creeks Watershed Committee, Pipestone Watershed Stewardship Committee and the Antler River Watershed Committee. In partnership with the local municipalities in the Lower Souris Watershed, we are working towards positive change of our local landscape. The Lower Souris

Watershed is located in the southeast corner of Saskatchewan. It encompasses 20 rural municipalities, 19 urban municipalities, and three First Nation's lands. All watershed residents need to be aware of their impacts on the environment surrounding them. Water quality and quantity are issues that concern all of us. We enjoy abundant water for human consumption, livestock and agricultural use as well as recreational activities such as boating, swimming and fishing. The everyday activities of a watershed's residents can negatively impact both the quality and quantity of water. is working with all community members to reduce the detrimental environmental impacts of everyday activities through:
1. Providing watershed education
2. Restoring wetlands for water conservation
3. Developing sustainable community water supplies
4. Identifying & reducing surface and groundwater threats
5. Implementing Best Management Practices (BMPs) for agricultural producers
6. Preserving and developing fish habitat
7. Engaging in research projects
8. Monitoring water quality

We are continually searching for new and innovative projects to help our residents protect their current and future water supplies.

Had a great morning yesterday touring with department of fisheries and oceans. We looked at past projects completed in our watershed, fish and fish habitat in the area. Great discussions about past lessons learned and possible future projects!
