This fall we ran SkyHigh Kick’in the Kitchen as our first Youth Transitions Program in Red Deer!
Participants worked in small teams to design aprons, create team identities, and collaboratively prepare a main entrée and dessert for their families. Alongside cooking, youth engaged in hands-on learning focused on nutrition, kitchen safety, and budgeting, applying their knowledge in real time through activities such as comparing grocery prices using “Click and Collect” tools.

We're so grateful for opportunities like these to bring valuable programming to youth in our community and it would not be possible without our generous supporters.

Thank you to everyone who made this weekend's Y Ride: Cycle for Kids such a success! It was Northside Community Centre YMCA's first time participating in the ride and it was amazing to see local teams, families, and volunteers rally together to support kids and youth in our community.

Together with all participating locations across Alberta, we raised over $84,000 to support programs that build strong, healthy futures for young people.

A heartfelt thank-you to the event's sponsors, Nordic Mechanical Services, Dentons, Aman Builders, Assiff Law, LIVunLtd, On-Site Rehabilitation, and Elite Trade Painting!

The YMCA of Northern Alberta and the Alberta Ballet School are offering free beginner ballet classes to youth in Red Deer once again!

Classes Offered: Ages 6–8, Ages 9–11, Teens (12+)
When: Sundays, October 5 – December 7, 2025 (10 weeks).
Where: Northside Community Centre YMCA, 6391 76 St, Red Deer

Classes are taught by professional ballet instructors from the Alberta Ballet School. No uniform or previous dance experience required. All lessons are free, but registration is required as space is limited. Register online at albertaballet.com/classes/reddeer or call 780-702-4725 for more details.

Registration for the 2025 Y Ride: Cycle for Kids fundraiser is now open! Register your team for a fun morning of cycling on stationary bikes, music and friendly competition before October 24 for your chance to win an Aquatone MIST paddle board! All registrants are also entered into our Grand Prize Draw to win a Keiser M3C Spin Bike generously donated by LIVunLtd. (approximate retail value of $3000).

Participants compete for prizes over a 3-hour stretch of high-energy riding to see who can achieve the greatest distance of the morning. Teams pledge to raise funds in support of their effort, with all proceeds raised empowering children and youth in Alberta.
