Westerner Days Fair & Exposition is just around the corner and we're gettin' the grill ready for some fluffy flapjacks and scrumptious sausages as we get ready to host our very first FREE Pancake Breakfast at the Red Deer Dream Centre!! Saturday July 18th, so mark your calendars and bring your appetite!!

Toiletries Request
One of the first things many men need when arriving at the Centre is something most of us use every day without thinking twice — basic toiletries and personal care items. A fresh start often begins with restoring dignity in the small things.
We’re inviting our community to partner with us by donating new & unopened hygiene items such as:
• Body wash
• Toothpaste
• Toothbrushes
• Razors
• Shaving cream
• Soap
• Deodorant
• And other essential toiletries
These simple items go a long way in helping the men in our program feel welcomed, cared for, and supported as they begin their recovery journey.

June Update

Heather Vogel’s 10K challenge is drawing closer, and her training is gaining momentum. As part of her preparation for the August 11 event, Heather has been incorporating hill training into her routine, demonstrating the determination, perseverance, and commitment that have defined her journey from the beginning.

We are excited to share that the campaign has now raised $30,280 toward its goal of $43,500. This incredible progress is a testament to the generosity, prayers, and encouragement of our supporters. Every contribution helps move the campaign forward and brings us one step closer to reaching the goal.

Thank you for walking alongside Heather on this journey. Your support continues to make a meaningful difference and strengthens the work of Shalom Counselling Centre.

A Story of Determination & Service – Meet Dustin

Determination and a servant’s heart are the first words that come to mind when describing Dustin and his journey through the Red Deer Dream Centre.

No one walks through our doors when life is going smoothly, and very few people in the middle of crisis have the courage to keep reaching out and clearly stating their desire for a better life. Dustin is that kind of man.

When a bed finally became available and all the pieces fell into place, Dustin stepped into the program with a quiet but powerful belief that life — a good life full of joy and purpose — was still waiting for him.

From early on, his heart to serve stood out. Whether it was helping fellow residents, jumping in to do whatever needed doing, or putting his strong trades background to work, Dustin consistently looked for ways to be a blessing to others. His skills as a tradesman were a tremendous gift to the centre.

Today, Dustin has successfully completed the program and moved into the next chapter of his recovery. He is now living in sober housing and working full-time with a local contractor. Even with his busy schedule, he continues to make time to come back and serve as a handyman at the centre.

Dustin is a powerful inspiration to those still caught in addiction and to everyone walking the road of recovery — a living example that it’s possible to live life on life’s terms, one day at a time.

It is truly an honour to know a man like Dustin.
