👰🤵‍♂️ Sometimes, the most meaningful celebrations are the ones that come together unexpectedly.

When Taryn and Seth were married away from home, Taryn’s grandmother, Sue, wasn't able to be there. So they brought a little piece of their wedding day to Hospice.

With flowers in the room and Sue and Taryn’s mom, Laura, by their side, Taryn and Seth exchanged vows once again in a small ceremony officiated by Janice — this time with Grandma there to witness it. ❤️

Because even at end of life, there are still milestones to celebrate, memories to make, and moments worth gathering for.

There’s something special about gathering around a table to share a meal. 🍔

Recently, we had the pleasure of celebrating our incredible volunteers with a Volunteer Appreciation BBQ, made possible by the generosity of Ryan from Maple Leaf Roadhouse BBQ. Staff joined in to share good food, great conversation, and a well-deserved afternoon of gratitude for the people who give so much of themselves throughout the year.

To Ryan, and to every volunteer who helps make Red Deer Hospice feel like home—thank you. Your kindness creates moments of comfort and connection in more ways than one.

👀We’re looking for compassionate volunteers to join our Bereavement Support team.

Our Bereavement Support Volunteers walk alongside family members in the year following the loss of a loved one at Hospice. With guidance from our Bereavement Support Coordinators, volunteers connect by phone every few months—offering a listening ear, compassionate presence, and helpful resources along the way.

We’re currently looking for caring volunteers to join this important part of our Hospice community. If you’re someone who listens with empathy and would like to offer comfort to others navigating grief, we’d love to hear from you.

When families are considering hospice care, uncertainty about the environment can add to an already difficult decision.

To help answer some of those questions, we've added a Virtual Tour to our website. Whether you're exploring Hospice care for yourself, a loved one, or simply want to learn more about our home, the tour offers a chance to see our spaces before you visit in person.

From our resident suites and family gathering spaces to our spa room, kitchen, and Healing Garden, the tour provides a glimpse into the place where comfort, dignity, and compassionate care come together.

If you've ever wondered what Red Deer Hospice is like, or where to start, we invite you to take a look. 🔗 Learn more about admissions through the link in the comments below.

🤠🐴In Central Alberta, rodeo arenas, ranches, and country roads have shaped countless lives. For many of our residents, horses aren't just part of a favourite memory, they're part of who they are. So when Jim shared stories of his life as a rancher and cowboy, including competing at the Calgary Stampede and earning the Ponoka Stampede Old Timers title in calf roping, our team knew this Westerner Day kick off called for something a little extra again.

Along with a pancake breakfast served by our incredible volunteers, two special visitors arrived. As if they recognized a true horseman, Zavani and Hallmark seemed naturally drawn to Jim before making their way around Hospice to visit other residents through our patio doors.

At Red Deer Hospice, every resident's story helps guide the moments we create. By taking the time to know the people in our care, we can create moments that honour the lives they've lived and the things that have always brought them joy.

A heartfelt thank you to our volunteers, Kelleigh from First Call Restorations, Doreen Kulcsar of Key Warmbloods, and Janine Olson of Two Willows Equine for helping make this special Westerner Day possible.

If you grew up in Central Alberta, what's one tradition that instantly takes you back?

Last week, we had the joy of celebrating Lola as she retires from her staff role at Red Deer Hospice.

Surrounded by colleagues, volunteers, and friends, we shared laughter, memories, and heartfelt gratitude for the compassion, kindness, and care she has brought to our residents, families, and community over the years.

While this chapter is coming to a close, we're grateful that it isn't goodbye. Lola will continue sharing her time and heart through our grief support programs, and we couldn't be happier that she'll remain part of the Red Deer Hospice family.

Please join us in congratulating Lola on her retirement and wishing her all the best in this next chapter. ❤️

This gift will have a meaningful impact on the residents and families we serve today and in the years to come. We are deeply grateful that they chose Red Deer Hospice as a beneficiary this year.

Thank you for the beautiful way you continue to honour Papa P's memory. Bringing people together in celebration, generosity, and community is a remarkable legacy, and one that ensures his spirit will continue to touch the lives of others for years to come. ❤️🏡

We are beyond excited to announce that the 2026 Papa P Memorial Golf Tournament raised an incredible $125,000, with proceeds being shared between The Lending Cupboard Society of Alberta -TLC and the Red Deer Hospice Society.

This achievement would not have been possible without the amazing support of our sponsors, golfers, volunteers, donors, and the outstanding team at Alberta Springs Golf Resort. Your generosity, hard work, and commitment to our community continue to make a tremendous impact.

What started as a way to honor Papa P has grown into something truly special for our community, and we are so grateful to everyone who has been part of this journey.

From the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU for helping us make a difference in the lives of so many people in Central Alberta. ❤️

Save the Date - The 5th Annual Papa P Memorial Golf Tournament will take place on June 5, 2027.

We can't wait to see you there!
