Pumpkins, flowers and a whole lot of community spirit. 🎃🌻🌿
During the Sharpe Ave Festival, the team at Calyx Floral Design invited festival-goers to create their own pumpkin floral arrangements in exchange for donations to Red Deer Hospice. Together, they raised more than $1,000 in support of the care we provide to residents and their loved ones.

Thank you to Travis, Erin and everyone at Calyx, along with each person who stopped by, got creative and made a donation. We’re so grateful to be part of a community that continues to find such fun and thoughtful ways to support Hospice.

Sometimes, a quiet place to grieve is part of the journey too. A community member recently shared these photos from our Healing Garden, along with a note about how clearly loved the space is and the comfort it offers to those who are grieving and healing.

From a handwritten message tucked onto a bench to a small painted rock left behind, there are quiet reminders throughout the garden that this is more than a beautiful space. It is a place for residents, families and members of our community to sit, remember, grieve and find a little peace.

🧡 Today, September 30, we recognize the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

The symbols within this image carry meaning. The feather, narwhal and flower represent First Nations, Inuit and Métis, while the stars honour the children who never returned home from residential schools. The flowing lines remind us that reconciliation is an ongoing journey, connecting land, water, communities and generations.

Here in Red Deer, our community is invited to gather, learn and reflect at the Community Gathering for ReconciliACTION at the Red Deer Museum + Art Gallery, with activities taking place throughout the day and evening. We encourage our community to take time to listen, learn and reflect, today and throughout the year.

🍂 Fall is starting to settle in, and our volunteers made sure a little of the season found its way indoors too.

With a cart filled with warm drinks, fall treats and plenty of seasonal touches, they made their way from room to room offering residents and guests a treat, a visit and, most importantly, connection.

Sometimes it’s the simplest things that bring a little extra comfort to the day.

🪴Community partnerships can make a difference in many ways, and sometimes that means rolling up your sleeves and getting to work!

Each year, team members from Holiday Inn And Suites Red Deer South, Holiday Inn Express Red Deer North, Holiday Inn Express - Red Deer & Staybridge Suites Red Deer North choose a local organization to support through their Giving for Good program. This year, they chose Red Deer Hospice, joining us for a day of fall yard clean-up around our home.

Their visit also gave us an opportunity to welcome the team inside, share more about the care we provide, and show how community support contributes to the environment we create for residents and their loved ones.

Thank you to the entire team for your time, hard work and interest in learning more about Red Deer Hospice. We are grateful to have community partners willing to dig in, quite literally, to make a difference. ❤️

Closed for a very special private event... This time, it was our volunteers’ turn to be cared for! We gathered at Cronquist House for an afternoon of tea, lunch, gifts and, most importantly, time together.

Our volunteers give so much to Hospice, bringing their time, compassion and talents to our residents, their loved ones and our greater community. It was a pleasure to spend an afternoon together celebrating the incredible people who make such a difference in all that we do.

To all of our volunteers, thank you for everything you bring to Hospice. We are so grateful for you. ❤️

✂️ That fresh-after-a-haircut feeling! 😊

Volunteer Lyla brought the barber shop right to Jim’s room for a fresh cut, a little conversation and some one-on-one care.

And judging by that smile, the fresh cut passed the test. Even better, the cowboy hat was sitting just right again. 🤠
