🚨HEADS UP!!🚨

There is a power outage at our Orr Drive Bottle Depot 2. The City is on it, and we're hoping it will be fixed quickly, but until then, please bring your returns to our Bottle Depot 1 in the north end. We're ready and happy to serve you there until they sort this out.

Thank you for your understanding!

Know a young woman who saw something that needed fixing and did something about it?

Soroptimist International of Central Alberta is accepting applications for the Violet Richardson Award, which recognizes young women ages 14 to 17 who've made a difference through volunteer work in their school or community.

The recipient receives $500, plus a $500 donation to the charity of her choice.

It's not just about big projects. If she noticed a need and took action to help, whether for women and girls, her school, her community, or someone else, she may be a great fit.

Applications are due December 31. To request an application package, email [email protected].

Feel free to share this with a student, a parent, or a teacher who might know just the right person.

This Thanksgiving, we're grateful for the people who show up in practical ways.

🍂The families who trust us with someone they love.
🍂The neighbours who drop their empties in a Blue Bin.
🍂The regulars at Karma Cafe who know their order by heart.
🍂The local businesses donating to this month's Showcase auction.
🍂And our team, who make every day here feel welcoming.

Thanks for being part of a community that shows up. Happy Thanksgiving from all of us at COSMOS.

Becky and a few of our team attended The Possibility Exchange in September, hosted by the Community Foundation of Central Alberta.

It was a brand-new event built on a simple idea: put charities, donors, businesses, and community leaders in the same room and let good conversations happen. Sixty-five local charities said yes to trying something new, and the energy in the room showed it.

Rooms like this matter to us. The relationships we build with local businesses and organizations are often where practical opportunities start for the people we support, whether that's a new partner, a place to volunteer, or a conversation that turns into something real down the road.

Thank you to the Community Foundation for creating this space, and to everyone who stopped to connect with our team. We're already looking forward to the next one.

Renovations are still underway at our north end Depot, and we're still open for your returns.

A quick heads-up: shopping carts aren't available while the work continues, so if you're bringing in a big load, you might want to consider the Drive Up windows at Depot 2 on Orr Drive.

You'll still hop out to unload, but you won't need to come inside, and it makes bigger loads a lot easier to manage.

Thanks for sticking with us. The refresh is going to be worth it.

Thanksgiving dinner leaves behind two things: leftovers and a pile of empties. We can only help with one of them. 😂

All through October, every bottle and can you drop in a Blue Bin supports the Red Deer 18th Scouts in Red Deer and the Elizabeth Fry Society of Northern Alberta in Blackfalds.

The Scouts would tell you to be prepared. Consider this your reminder to bag them up now.

Thanks to Zed 98.9 Red Deer and New Country 95.5 for sponsoring this month's program.
