Pound It Parents Association (P**A) is a volunteer-run association working in conjunction with Pound It Hip Hop Studio to support our talented and hardworking dancers through many different fundraising opportunities. Funds raised help to support dancers to afford classes, pay for costumes, attend battles and pay for very exciting educational opportunities. Additionally, 10% of funds raised go back
to the studio scholarship fund to sponsor families who could not otherwise afford to have their children attend classes. We are proud to say that P**A has been able to sponsor up to 3 families within one dance year! This amazing success is all thanks to our dedicated and hard-working parents and sponsors of our association. This year, dancers are able to travel to New York City to compete in the 2023 Legacy League Championship. This is a North American All Street Club Dance League where they will be attending training camps led by world-class dancers and competing against the best dance crews from across North America. Rico, the owner and founder of Pound It Hip Hop Studio in Red Deer is also one of the founders of this national dance league. You can read more about Rico, the other founders, and the league’s mission at thelegacyleague.org. A little bit about Pound It Hip Hop Studio…
Pound It Hip Hop Studio is founded by Rico Martinez and his wife Shannon. Rico was born and raised in Mexico City, a city that has vibrant culture filled with music, street vendors, festivals, and colors. Rico’s history brings along the true foundation and culture of hip-hop: peace, love, unity, and having fun. He is such a positive role model, teaching life skills, respect, acceptance, and has created an unwavering family culture. Pound It was awarded as the top 3 dance schools in Red Deer for 2021 and 2022. They also brought back the title of Battle City Open Styles Champions for 2022.
