The wait isn't over yet—and Lua is holding out for her perfect match. 🐾

We’ve posted Lua before, but we know her ideal home is out there. This 4 year old Foxhound/Shepherd mix brings endless enthusiasm, incredible smarts, and a huge heart to the right household. She is wonderful with kids, deeply loyal, and ready to bring so much joy to a family that fits her unique needs. Lua needs a specific setup to thrive—and if you match one of these three profiles, you might be the exact partner she’s searching for:

🏡 1. The Active Family with a Fenced Yard
Have energetic kids who want a dog to play fetch and run around with in the backyard? Lua loves children and has the playful energy to match them. If you have a single-family home with a secure fence where she can be your one-and-only pet, she’ll be in heaven.

⛰️ 2. The Solo Adventurer or Active Couple
Looking for a dedicated hiking or running partner for quiet trails? Lua’s working-breed roots mean she craves outdoor adventures. Her intense food drive makes her a dream to train—she works hard, learns fast, and loves brain games.

🐕‍𺁞 3. The Experienced Rescue or Breed-Savvy Handler
Do you know how to manage a dog with high prey drive and pet reactivity with confidence? Lua must be the only pet (no dogs, cats, or small animals). She also has EPI (Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency), which is simple to manage: she just needs prescription enzymes mixed into her food every meal. An experienced owner will breeze right through her routine.

Lua’s journey has taken a little longer because she’s looking for a specific setup—but for the right home, she is going to be the absolute best companion. Help us find her person!

The BC SPCA is honouring National Truth and Reconciliation Day by closing all its locations on Wednesday, September 30. This is in recognition of the history of residential schools in Canada and their impacts on Indigenous Peoples. The Society will also be ‘going quiet’ across all social media channels to respect and create space for Indigenous voices.

Update! He has gone home
Do you recognize me⁉️

This cat was just abandoned here at the shelter. He is a young, intact male, ragdoll mix that we suspect has a home because he is very sweet. If this is your cat please contact us here at the shelter.

We would like to remind everyone that the Quesnel BC SPCA no longer holds a contract with the city of Quesnel. If you find a stray animal within city limits please contact the city and report it with them.

We understand that this is a period of change and uncertainty for our community. We kindly ask that everyone please be patient and respectful with our staff as we navigate this difficult transitional period together. ❤️

It's September and we're still waiting for someone to fall in love with Lua🍂

We know that the right home for her is out there somewhere and we're committed to finding it so this girl can get the second chance she rightfully deserves. As a reminder Lua is seeking to be the only animal in the home as she is not good with other dogs or small animals. She also suffers from exocrine pancreatic insufficiency which will require lifelong medication to manage.

Lua's people are out there and we want to reach them. If you think this special girl could be the right fit for you please contact us here at the shelter or submit an application through the link below:

Do you recognize me⁉️

This sweet kitty was brought to us earlier this week. She's a brown and white tabby and looks to have signs of being spayed recently as her tummy is shaved. If you recognize her please contact us here at the shelter.

Do you recognize me⁉️

Just now these two formerly white Great Pyrenees puppies were brought in to us. They were found by a creek on Olson Road just wandering through the bushes. If you recognize these two please contact us here at the shelter.

🐾 QUESNEL COMMUNITY: OUR SWEET GIRL LUA NEEDS YOU! 🐾

Meet Lua, a stunning 4-year-old German Shepherd/Husky/Lab mix with a heart of pure gold and a story of incredible resilience.
When Lua first came to us, she was severely emaciated and fighting just to get by. Today, thanks to a lot of love and care, she is gaining healthy weight and truly blossoming into the wonderful, affectionate dog she was always meant to be.
Lua is a total sweetheart with humans and absolutely adores people, including kids! However, to thrive in her forever home, she has a few specific needs:

Only-Pet Home: Lua is dog-aggressive and cannot live with other dogs, cats, or small animals. She needs to be the undisputed queen of her castle!

Lifetime Medication: She suffers from pancreatic insufficiency. She is doing fantastic now, but she will need to stay on daily medication for the rest of her life to keep her healthy and happy.

Lua has so much love to give and is ready to shower her future family with loyal companionship. If you have a pet-free home and room in your heart for a resilient girl who will love you endlessly, please reach out to us!
Please share this post to help us spread the word across Quesnel and find Lua the safe, loving forever home she deserves! ❤️
