📸 Throwback to spring 2011!
That year, Rotary Club of Quesnel President John Havens decided to shake things up a little. Instead of the traditional Paul Harris Awards, he wanted to find a special way to recognize two businesses that had been longtime supporters of the club and our community.
The result? Rotary Foundation Certificates of Appreciation presented to City Furniture & Appliances and McDonald's (Leigh Clarke).
Apparently, nobody in the club really knew what these certificates were because they'd never given them out before! 😂 But John was determined to recognize two businesses that had consistently shown up and given back.
And when we say consistently, we mean EVERY fundraiser! From the Radio-TV Auction to the dinner-auction supporting The Rotary Foundation, we were there. And let's not forget some pretty epic eyeball-to-eyeball bidding wars over Rebecca MacPherson's famous group dinners! 🥣🥘
And that's what makes this story special to us.
Giving back has never been about recognition. It's about supporting the organizations, volunteers, and people who make our community what it is.
50 years later, that hasn't changed. We're still proud to support the community that's supported us all these years.
Because at the end of the day, a business is only as strong as the community behind it. ❤️
