So very sorry to hear about the passing of Dolly Parton. She was a great advocate for literacy and music and she changed so many lives. In 1995 Dolly Parton began her Imagination Library project, which sent an age-appropriate book to every child in the US every month until they were five. “My father could not read and write, and I saw how crippling that could be,” she explained. It expanded nationwide in 2000, internationally in 2006, and nearly 25m books are now distributed each year across the US, Canada, Australia, the UK and Ireland.
Bon voyage Dolly, you will be missed.

QCRC's new website is officially live!

What a journey this has been! Over the past several months, the QCRC team has poured a lot of time, thought, and hard work into creating a website that better reflects who we are, what we do, and the community we proudly serve. We're so excited to finally share it with you! Whether you're looking for information about our programs, events, or ways to get involved, we hope you'll find it easier than ever to connect with us.

A special thank you to Cagdas Yoldas Photography for bringing our vision to life. From designing and building the website to capturing our new staff photos, your creativity, expertise, and patience made this project possible.

Check it out at www.qcrc.org and have a great summer!

Meet Sawem (pronouned Sah-Weem), QCRC's new Program Assistant!

Born and raised in Tunisia, Sawem moved to Ontario in 2015 and recently made Quebec her home. She brings creativity, strong communication skills, and the occasional batch of chocolate chip cookies to the QCRC team. Passionate about creating engaging learning experiences, she believes learning should be accessible, enjoyable, and inspiring for everyone. Her philosophy; knowledge is food for the soul, and everyone deserves a taste that suits their palate.

You'll undoubtedly be seeing a lot more of Sawem on QCRC's socials in the coming months. Please join us in giving Sawem a warm welcome!

There’s still time to join the Snail Mail Club, but registration closes May 8th!

This fun and meaningful program gives children the chance to connect through handwritten letters, creativity, and community. Participants receive a kit with everything they need to get started, and this year, QCRC is excited to partner with Yamaska Literacy Council in Cowansville, giving kids from the Quebec City area the opportunity to connect with new friends a little farther away!

Already participated before? We’d love to welcome you back! Returning participants can register again and we’ll happily restock your child’s kit with the essentials.

Don’t miss out on this chance to create, connect, and spread a little joy through snail mail!
