We attended this week's Carrefour ÉS, hosted by the Chantier de l'économie sociale Sociale and the Conseil québécois de la coopération et de la mutualité (CQCM) at the beautiful Théâtre Cartier in Montreal. It was a pleasure to reconnect with provincial partners and learn more about the social economy initiatives going on throughout Québec.

Last week, we had the opportunity to facilitate three Spark workshops at Pontiac High School in Shawville and at Dr. Wilbert Keon School in Chapeau. There were about 20 students in each workshop for a total of 60 students.🤩 We loved seeing the enthusiasm of the students and staff as they learned about how the social economy constantly surrounds us.

Thank you to Shelley Heaphy, Connexions Resource Centre's Community Outreach and Engagement Coordinator for the MRC of Pontiac, for the amazing job she did coordinating these workshops.

L'Ampli is developing and entering a consolidation phase, thanks to seven certified supporting organizations, new bilingual tools, and a permanent fund designed to boost equity crowdfunding campaigns for social economy enterprises across Québec (preference shares and community bonds).

On June 17, from 2 to 3 p.m., you're invited to join a webinar (in English) to learn about the system’s new features. We hope to see you there! Please feel free to share this widely within your networks.

💡 Here's some social economy enterprise inspiration! Corridor Community Options in Elmsdale, N.S., has several social enterprises that offer recreational programming, education, and employment opportunities to adults with intellectual disabilities.

"Ailyn Clow, a community engagement instructor, says along with the skills they learn in their various job placements, she also helps participants work on their resumés so they can apply for opportunities within the community. 'You slowly start to see … those skills that you work on come to life. And the moment it clicks, you can see it happen,' she said. 'Seeing people feel pride in their work, and they’re getting the skills down. They’re reaching their goals."

✈ SEEnet traveled 1,100 kilometers to St. Paul's River in the Lower North Shore to give three social economy workshops at St. Paul High School. Nearly the entire school (40 students) learned more about identifying needs and their ability to develop collective solutions within the region's unique context. Thank you to the Coasters Association Inc. and school principal Mr. Paul Campanelli for arranging the sessions.

We also met with representatives from the Municipality of Bonne-Espérance and the MRC du Golfe du Saint Laurent to discuss ways to better integrate the social economy into their communities.

👏 "Tickets for good, not greed." 👏 Did you know there is a nonprofit competitor to TicketMaster and EventBrite?

Humanitix, a ticketing platform that was started in 2016 in Sydney, Australia, has now expanded into North America! The booking fees are lower than the competitors, and *all of the profit goes to charity.*

Pioneers Post's article on Humantix quotes Hugh Jackman, who is now the social economy enterprise's head of impact: “For a long time, we’ve accepted this idea that business exists to make money, and if you want to do good, you start a charity. Two separate worlds. Humanitix rejects that entirely—and that's what makes it so important. Not just as a ticketing platform, but as a signal of where capitalism needs to go. Every dollar of profit goes to the mission, there are no shareholders in the equation. That’s not corporate social responsibility. That’s a whole new architecture for how a company can work.”
