Shae Smith, director of community engagement and outreach from Kennesaw State University's KSU Global Education program in Kennesaw, Georgia, visited the RDN office today to discuss exchange and career development opportunities for the school's students to experience the regions of Québec. We had a great discussion and are looking forwarding to continuing brainstorming!

Last week, RDN was pleased to attend the launch of the Centre for Access to Services in English (Case-Mcq) Pathways to Employment Initiative, a new program providing employment support to English-speaking residents of Mauricie and Centre-du-Québec.

We were pleased to participate in TALQ - formerly QCGN’s AGM last week. It was a great opportunity to learn more about their past year’s accomplishments and to network with other provincial and regional partners. It was also exciting to meet the new Commissioner of Official Languages, Ms. Kelly Burke (Office of the Commissioner of Official Languages of Canada.

Day 2 of our Community Builders Retreat brought together provincial and regional organizations serving Québec’s English-speaking communities. Focused on relationship building and collaboration, the discussions centred on sharing about effective community-driven initiatives across the province as well as key issues affecting English-speaking communities.

Walter Willett shared an update on the EnRoute app, which tells the stories of English-speaking communities in the regions of Québec. Sylvia Martin-Laforge, executive director of TALQ - formerly QCGN, gave a presentation on Section VII of the Official Languages Act, which was followed by a panel discussion with Nicholas Salter from Provincial Employment Roundtable - Table ronde provinciale sur l’emploi (PERT), Brigitte Wellens from RDN, Miranda Castravelli from ELAN Quebec, and Christine Truesdale from LEARN. Thank you to all for the fantastic event! We look forward to our next gathering of provincial and regional organizations.

Day 1 of our Community Builders Retreat was an excellent day! We started off with an informative presentation by Danielle Azoulay, Regional Manager, Québec, for the Official Languages Support Programs of Canadian Heritage. There was an information session with the Ministère de l’Immigration, de la Francisation et de l’Intégration about Francisation Québec's French language learning services as well as network updates and group discussions. We had two great Community Impact training sessions facilitated by Russ Kueber. Then we closed the day with a networking 5 à 7 with our member organizations and provincial organizations. During that, we launched the books created from our Recording Our Past to Promote Our Future: A Collection of Regional Organizational Histories project. This initiative created historical narratives and timelines for RDN’s regional member organizations.
