The Central Island Division of Family Practice represents family physicians in a collection of friendly and small communities, stretching from the Parksville/Qualicum Beach areas along the sheltered Strait of Georgia on Vancouver Island's eastern shore, to Port Alberni in the West, to Nanoose Bay in the south and Deep Bay in the North - Parksville-Qualicum Beach is thoroughly equipped with modern

emergency service infrastructures, including our fabulous new Urgent Care facility, the Oceanside Health Centre, and Port Alberni is home to the beautiful West Coast General Hospital. With on average 2,047 hours of brilliant sunshine every year, it's one of the best places in Canada to live, work and play! The Central Island Division of Family Practice, formed in 2010, is a local non-profit society of community-based primary care physicians. The Division gives local physicians an opportunity to work collaboratively with Island Health, the GPSC, and the Ministry of Health to identify health care needs in the local community and develop solutions to meet those needs. Our members work together to:
-Increase family practitioner influence on health care delivery in our region.
-Enhance professional satisfaction to general practitioners.
-Improve patient care in our area.

Our Story

The Central Island of Family Practice represents family physicians and nurse practitioners in a collection of friendly and small communities, stretching from the Parksville/Qualicum Beach areas along the sheltered Strait of Georgia on Vancouver Island's eastern shore, to Nanoose Bay in the south and Deep Bay in the North, as well as Port Alberni to the West - we even encompass inland areas including Cathedral Grove and Horne Lake, as well as the historic town of Coombs. The Central Island Division of Family Practice, formed in 2010, is a local non-profit society of community-based primary care givers. The Division gives local care givers an opportunity to work collaboratively with Island Health, the GPSC, and the Ministry of Health to identify health care needs in the local community and develop solutions to meet those needs. Our members work together to: -Increase family and nurse practitioner influence on health care delivery in our region. -Enhance professional satisfaction to general practitioners. -Improve patient care in our area.
