It was wet and wonderful at the dock today!

Darin Brown and Wayne Pritchard, from Ducks Unlimited Oceanside, pledged $55,000 in net proceeds from their gala towards the purchase of Hamilton Marsh.

Ray Woroniak and Graham Sakaki from Mount Arrowsmith Biosphere Region who help spread the word and collect pledges for the purchase were on hand.

Tom Osborne, Stuart McLean, and Rick Daykin from the RDN who continue to work hard on this landmark purchase were there.

And me, Ceri Peacey, from the Hamilton Wetlands and Forest Preservation Society, who along with many other community groups, have been advocating for the preservation of Hamilton Marsh - the whole 360 hectares, for twenty plus years!

2025 was another successful and busy year for the Ducks Unlimited Oceanside Chapter. The annual cleanup of Nanoose Bay estuary with our long time sponsors and partners, Cascades Recovery+, the active and expanding Marshkeepers program, participating in the Hamilton Marsh tours, and the annual gala and auction, selling out again and raising over $55,000.

A well deserved celebration for all their accomplishments. Good food, good times, and great people. See you again in 2026!

On behalf of Oceanside, Ducks Unlimited Canada, I would like to thank Oceanside and the surrounding communities for their support at our annual fundraising event that took place on November 8, 2025 at the Qualicum Civic Centre.

The success of our fundraising dinner would not be possible without the support of the Generous community and the guests that attended the event. I really enjoyed the opportunity to meet and talk with you at the event and look forward to seeing you at our next gala on November 7, 2026.

Another great live auction item for our gala is an original painting by artist Laurie Weber - “West Coast Wild” is a portrait of Chesterman Beach. The artist strives to capture the way sunlight and shadows interact. This is a beautiful piece that would hang perfectly in any room.
