The Québec Counselling Association is an affiliate of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association.

QCA is a provincial association, formed in 1958, for professionals in all areas of guidance and counselling, in both the public and private sectors. Meet Sandra, an experienced counsellor and mental health professional with a career spanning several decades in counselling, education, professional leadership, and mental health services. Sandra currently serves as a Board Member-at-Large of the Quebec Counselling Association (QCA). She previously served as President of the QCA for several years during the 1990s and was also the Francophone Director of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA).

Meet the face behind our social media and website! Kim Guigui just completed her first year on the board, and is looking forward to growing our community through our online presence. Despite being a Montreal native who speaks French, Kim found refuge in the QCA and CCPA after having such a hard time getting recognized with the OPQ. She is so grateful to have found an easier path to practice with her American degree, and thrive in private practice as Canadian Certified Counsellor.

Meet Hira, the face behind our e-bulletins! Hira holds a Master’s in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University and is a Certified Canadian Counsellor and Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with CRPO.

The Justine Harris Award for Excellence in Counselling was established:

• To promote professional initiative and leadership in the provision and delivery of services in the diverse situations that our members perform

• To applaud new and creative efforts to meet the ever-changing needs of the counsellor’s work environment

• To recognize a counsellor’s demonstrated commitment to excellence and high professional integrity

• To draw an employer’s attention to the high esteem in which his/her professional colleagues hold their employee

• To heighten awareness within the community at large of the counsellor’s role in a wide variety of work environments

Le Prix Justine Harris pour l’excellence en counseling a été créé afin de :

• Promouvoir l’initiative professionnelle et le leadership dans la prestation et l’offre de services dans la diversité des contextes où exercent nos membres.

• Souligner les efforts novateurs et créatifs visant à répondre aux besoins en constante évolution du milieu de travail des conseillères et conseillers.

• Reconnaître l’engagement démontré d’une conseillère ou d’un conseiller envers l’excellence ainsi qu’un haut niveau d’intégrité professionnelle.

This April is Canadian Counselling & Psychotherapy month, so let’s feature our current board president, Sarah Lemme Sarah Lemme in our Meet the board series! Her experience spans across various settings, including the CLSC, readaptation centers, summer camps, and more, providing her with valuable insights into assisting individuals of all ages and from various walks of life.
