Erris Tender 281 remains on deployment as part of Rapid Response Team 4. The team is now on task for the Ainslie Creek Fire (V10755), south west of Merritt.

Please be aware that the dark smoke aloft is from the Ainslie Creek Fire (V10755).

This fire became very aggressive this afternoon (08/10) and with winds from the West, the smoke is coming into our area.

Sadly, the devastation of the Bald Range Fire (Summerland) K54190 has become even more tragic as a person has lost their life while attempting to evacuate.

We extend our deepest condolences to their family and friends during this very, very difficult time.

Pictured with Erris T281 are members of “Rapid Response Team 4”.

The members were sent to Kamloops to form this team to deploy anywhere in the province. The members trained as a team for a day and then deployed out to the Big Bar Fire in Clinton and then to the Vernon Complex on the Fintry side of Okanagan Lake.

Apparatus included were: One Type 1 Engine from Pemberton, one Type 3 from Columbia Valley, two Type 6’s (one from Hope and one from Pemberton), and Erris’ Tender 281 as the Tactical Tender. Erris team member Bev said that it was a great team and she loved the idea of working as a unit because each member knew each other’s apparatus and crew which is very efficient.

Erris Command 281 and 282 on deployment in the Vernon area. These two vehicles are used to transport our SPU trailer as well as transporting personnel to and from deployment.

Erris’ SPU is on the road again. Destination Vernon, manned with a "five pack" consisting of members representing EVFD (Erris Volunteer Fire Department), EFPS (East Gate Fire Protection Society), PVFD (Princeton Volunteer Fire Department) and PFD (Penticton Fire Department).

This deployment is a perfect example of why our fire departments train together.
