Local 559 Executive members met today with Minister Davidson for a productive and important discussion.
Our primary focus was improving access to annual cancer screenings for firefighters and advocating for legislative changes to reduce age requirements for certain cancer screening tests. Early detection saves lives, and our members deserve access to the protections that reflect the real risks of our profession.
We appreciate the opportunity to have this conversation and will continue pushing for meaningful action that protects the health and long-term wellbeing of our firefighters.

🔥🚒 PUT OUT THE FIRE… STOP THE FIRE… NO—DON’T STOP THE FIRE! 🚒🔥
Because our hospital is reaping the benefits!

Once again, our brave and fearless Prince Rupert Firefighters Association 559 have stepped up in a HUGE way, donating an incredible $20,559.00 to our Prince Rupert Regional Hospital through the Prince Rupert Fire Fighters Charitable Fund!

That’s right - an absolute INFERNO of generosity! 🔥🔥🔥
And you already know what comes next…

đź’Ą Prince Rupert Port Authority is MATCHING this donation đź’Ą
➡️ That turns into $41,118.00 going directly to support our hospital and the people who rely on it every single day!

We cannot thank our firefighters enough… not just for this massive donation, but for everything you do day in and day out. You answer the call, save lives, protect our city, and still find the time to support causes like Rampage Fights Cancer and show up at the rink game after game.

Prince Rupert is a better place because of each and every one of you.
You’re heroes on the job, champions in the community ~ and straight-up beauties. ❤️🚨

Thank you for keeping the fire burning for our hospital!

Prince Rupert Fire Fighters stand in solidarity with members of the Ambulance Paramedics of British Columbia (APBC) as they work toward a fair collective agreement.

Every day, Prince Rupert Fire Fighters and APBC paramedics work hand in hand to make our city safer. There are few professions that spend — and sacrifice — as much together in the interest of the common good.

Today, and every day, we stand with our brothers and sisters in the Ambulance Paramedics of British Columbia.

The Prince Rupert Firefighters Charitable Society is proud to donate $5,000 to the BC Burn Fund. This contribution helps support burn survivors and their families across British Columbia, ensuring they receive the care, resources, and recovery support they need.

The BC Burn Fund provides life-saving medical equipment, supports burn survivors through recovery programs, funds burn-prevention education, and operates the Burn Fund Centre—a home-away-from-home for patients and families receiving treatment. Their work makes a real difference in helping survivors rebuild their lives.

We’re grateful to our community for making contributions like this possible. Together, we’re helping improve the lives of those affected by burn injuries.

So happy to see Prince Rupert Fire Rescue Local 559 members at the MLA/IAFF Leader's Reception last night in Victoria. Thanks to Captain James Daniele and Firefighter Ryan Fuzi for hanging out with their MLA even when I was wielding an axe.

I also wanted to acknowledge the delegation that came to honor Francis Wolfe who was added to the memorial:

Firefighter Steve Fodor & Jordan Vendittelli, Capt. Dylan Sidoni, Retired Capt. Ted Moore, Retired Capt. Marvin Kristoff, Retired Capt. Calvin Thompson, Retired Firefighter Dewayne Campbell, Retired Deputy Chief Jim Martin and Chief Jeff Beckwith.

Thank you so much for keeping us safe and all the work you do for the community.
