📅 Upcoming Rotary AGM – December 18

Thursday, December 18, at our lunch meeting, we’ll be holding our Annual General Meeting (AGM) — a more business-focused meeting where we review club updates and announce our incoming President for the 2027/2028 Rotary year. Because of the AGM format, we won’t have a guest speaker.

We’ll also be taking a short holiday break after this meeting, as the following two Thursdays fall on Christmas and New Year’s Day. 🎄✨

We look forward to seeing everyone on December 18 and reconnecting again in January! 💙

December is Disease Prevention Month 🩺

This month, Rotary focuses on preventing disease and protecting communities around the world. One of our proudest achievements is the fight to eradicate polio—a disease that once paralyzed hundreds of thousands of children every year.

Thanks to global vaccination efforts and dedicated Rotarians, we’re closer than ever to a polio-free world!

Rotary Supports Student Exchanges 🌏

Our club is proud to currently host a student from Taiwan, part of Rotary’s short- and long-term international exchange programs. These programs allow youth to safely experience new countries and cultures, promoting peace and building lifelong friendships.

Michelle is the Executive Director of North Coast Community Services. NCCS provides therapies, consultation, and support services for families whose children or youth may have support needs — along with a wide range of community programs for local children and families. 🌟

🌍 Rotary Around the World

From supporting youth to protecting wildlife, Rotary Clubs continue to make a difference across the globe! These are just a few of the many incredible projects happening around the world right now. 🌟

Scotland – The Rotary Club of Elgin empowers youth through Rotaract, Interact, and RotaKids clubs. Local RotaKids raised over £3,200 for a hydrocephalus charity — proof that community spirit starts young! 💪

India – The Rotary Club of Coimbatore Cotton City created a stunning 1,200 sq-ft millet-grain art display to raise awareness about the illegal trade of wild parakeets. Their creative advocacy supports animal rescue and conservation. 🦜

Philippines – The Rotary Club of Bacolod Central’s Project Smile gives free dental care to public-school teachers, helping those who often put their students’ needs before their own. 😊

Rotary’s impact reaches every corner of the world — proving that Service Above Self has no borders. 🌏

🌈 CHSS Interact Club

The Prince Rupert Rotary Club proudly sponsors the CHSS Interact Club!

Interact gives high school students the chance to learn about leadership, community service, and global citizenship. These amazing youth organize fundraisers, volunteer locally, and support international causes — all while having fun and making a difference! 💙

Brandon is the new Head Archivist for the City of Prince Rupert and Regional Archives. He’ll be sharing an update on what the Archives has been working on—including their project to make the space more accessible, comfortable, and welcoming for the community to explore our local history. 📚✨

All community members are welcome to attend! Lunch is available for $23 per person.

👕 Rotary’s Clothing for Kids Program 👖

With the help of Kxeen Community Services, we’re proud to provide youth in our community with new clothing, including jackets, boots, sweaters, and essentials like socks and underwear.

Teachers submit requests for students who need support, ensuring each child gets what they require. This program helps youth who cannot afford clothing or who may have forgotten something at home, so they can stay comfortable, confident, and focused on learning. 💙

Together, we’re helping local students thrive at school!

This Week’s Speaker: Keri Dybhaven from Port Edward Harbour Authority 🚤

Join us Thursday, Nov 27 at 12 PM in the Highliner Hotel to hear from Keri about the Port Edward Harbour Authority (PEHA).

PEHA is a not-for-profit organization managing four harbours on the North Coast: Porpoise (Port Edward), Rushbrook, Cowbay, and Fairview. They provide services and support for commercial fishers and the local community.
