**❤️ Volunteer Appreciation: Toni & Brock ❤️**

Today we want to give a very special shout-out to Toni and Brock of Schell of Broni Services and recognize just how much they give back to our community!

While Toni and Brock are contracted to manage our hall rentals, they have gone far beyond their role. They continually volunteer their time, energy, skills, and resources to help our hall and make our events successful. They’ve donated items we’ve needed, pitched in wherever help is needed, and are always willing to go that extra mile.

But what makes Toni and Brock truly special is that their generosity doesn’t stop with us.. They volunteer their time and support to many organizations, events, and causes throughout Prince George. They are the kind of people who see a need and simply step up to help.

We feel incredibly fortunate to have them as part of our hall family and are so grateful for everything they do — not just for us, but for our wider community. ❤️

And while we’re giving them this well-deserved thank you, we’d also like to give them a little community shout-out!

🌿 **Volunteer Appreciation: Lorraine Grant** 🌿

This week, we are delighted to shine a warm and heartfelt spotlight on Lorraine Grant for her ongoing dedication and contributions to RJ House. 💚

Since early spring, Lorraine has been a familiar and much-appreciated presence at RJ House. She not only cleaned out the gardens and planted in the spring, but has continued visiting several times a week to care for our outdoor spaces with remarkable dedication.

She weeds, waters, fertilizes, and tends to every corner of the gardens with such care and thoughtfulness. Thanks to her consistent efforts, our gardens don’t just stay maintained—they thrive! 🌱🌸

Her work has helped create vibrant, welcoming spaces where people can pause, relax, and enjoy the beauty of nature right outside our doors. Much of what Lorraine does happens quietly behind the scenes, but the impact is clear in the health, colour, and warmth of our gardens.

We are incredibly grateful to Lorraine and to all the volunteers who generously give their time and energy to make RJ House and the Blackburn hall a more welcoming and inviting space to connect the community.

💙 Volunteer Appreciation: Our Board Goes Above & Beyond

Today, we want to recognize and celebrate the incredible volunteers who make up the Blackburn Community Association Board.

Being a board member is already a commitment of time, energy and responsibility—but our board members do so much more than attend meetings and make decisions.

They roll up their sleeves and help maintain and improve our facility, take on projects, organize and support community events, clean, repair, set up and take down, fundraise, and step in wherever they are needed. Much of this work happens behind the scenes, but it makes a tremendous difference.

From keeping our hall welcoming and safe, to helping make events happen and ensuring our community has a place to gather, their dedication goes far beyond what is expected of a volunteer board member.

We are incredibly grateful for every hour, every task, every idea and every extra effort.

Thank you to our Board members for giving not just your time, but your hands, your skills and your heart to Blackburn. ❤️

More Great News!

Another heartfelt thank you to the City of Prince George for supporting the Blackburn Community Association through the Climate Action Grant. We were thrilled to receive funding to help us achieve our lighting upgrade goals, making our facilities more energy efficient and sustainable for our community.

This is just one of several exciting steps forward for Blackburn, and we're looking forward to sharing more great news in the coming weeks. Stay tuned—we can't wait to tell you what's next!

The Blackburn Community Association is looking for volunteers to help run the following programs this fall:

• Youth Basketball (ages 7–9): Looking for someone with basic basketball knowledge to lead practices and games, encourage fair play, and keep the program organized.

• Adult Pickleball (ages 16+): Volunteer would be responsible for setting up the nets, keeping the group organized, and making sure the program runs smoothly during the scheduled time.

• Adult Volleyball (ages 16+): Volunteer would be responsible for setting up the nets, keeping the group organized, and making sure the program runs smoothly during the scheduled time.

•Kids Games (ages 3–5): Plan and lead simple indoor games that are fun, active, and age-appropriate while keeping the group engaged and organized.

• Indoor Soccer (ages 5–8): Looking for someone with soccer knowledge to lead a mix of skill-building activities and games, promote fair play, and keep the program fun and well organized.

As a thank you, volunteers will receive complimentary memberships for their children for the duration of the program they are volunteering with.

We have so much to be thankful for!

A heartfelt thank you to the City of Prince George for supporting the Blackburn Community Association through the Micro Grant Program.

Thanks to this funding, we'll be adding a laundry facility that will support our events, hall rentals, and the day-to-day operations of Blackburn Hall and the RJ Blackburn House. Having an on-site laundry will make it easier to care for our table linens, towels, kitchen items, and other materials while reducing operating costs.

This is just the first of several exciting announcements we can't wait to share with our community. Stay tuned—there's more great news to come!
