MABA is also the organizer of the annual Santa Parade, welcome Santa into Powell River every Christmas season. is a collaboration of Powell River businesses that formed in March 1993 with the intention of drawing more people to Marine Avenue, the delightful downtown waterfront section of Highway 101, Powell River, British Columbia, on the upper Sunshine Coast. o the place to stroll, for both visitors and citizens to enjoy the ambiance of a traditional west coast village with shops, galleries, services, and the feeling of a community with history. Our mandate, beyond the promotion of Marine Avenue, is to arrange festivals and events that serve both the community and the interests of the Marine Avenue district. As a result, M.A.B.A. has ensured the survival of the ever-popular BlackBerry Festival and the annual Santa Parade held the first weekend of December.

Local businesses Forge and Entertainment have teamed up to make The Great Marine Trick or Treat happen again this year!

Bring your family, especially your costumed little monsters, down to Marine Ave to trick or treat with local shops from 3pm-5pm!

The route will run from Alberni (the Ecossentials building has several participants) to The Legion at Alexander! Look for the pumpkins and enjoy!

The weather looks great for tomorrow and we look forward to seeing everyone out there!

Rowwie of Flickerwood Forge (and qathet Living's Best Dressed), will be out and about with treats for great costumes so look for her with her pumpkin bag! 🧙🎃

Our Story

THE MARINE AVENUE BUSINESS ASSOCIATION (MABA) is a collaboration of Powell River businesses that formed in March 1993 with the intention of drawing more people to Marine Avenue, the delightful downtown waterfront section of Highway 101, Powell River, British Columbia, on the upper Sunshine Coast. The goal was to turn Marine Avenue into the place to stroll, for both visitors and citizens to enjoy the ambiance of a traditional west coast village with shops, galleries, services, and the feeling of a community with history. One obvious step towards this goal was to adopt the orphaned events and festivals and serve both the community and its interests in the Marine Avenue district. As a result, MABA has ensured the survival of the ever-popular BlackBerry Festival and the annual Santa Parade held the first of each December. And the plans continue. Under the guidance of our board of directors, regular meetings are held in an atmosphere of congenial co-operation devising ways of keeping this charming area of the community, alive and vibrant.
