Powell River Salmon Society To promote the conservation and enhancement of Pacific Salmonids in the Powell River area

06/04/2026

While collecting water samples in our watershed this morning, we stopped to visit our migrating Chinook salmon coming out of Haslam Lake. In just a few short weeks, they’ve nearly doubled in size and are looking healthy and strong!

There were also plenty of mosquitoes to go around for the Coho salmon rearing throughout the system!

These fish represent so much more than a successful enhancement program. They support future generations, recreational and commercial fisheries, First Nations, local ecosystems, and even the whales that depend on healthy salmon populations. What an incredible asset we have in our watershed!

As a reminder for our upcoming fundraiser, is recommending that guests bring cash. Due to a planned power outage, electronic payment systems might not be reliable, so having cash on hand will help ensure transactions can be completed smoothly throughout the event.

Thank you for supporting our salmon enhancement operations and helping ensure the continued success of these remarkable fish for generations to come! 🐟🌊💙
