Today, we pause to remember the courage, sacrifice, and determination of the Allied forces who landed on the beaches of Normandy on June 6, 1944.

D-Day marked the beginning of the liberation of Western Europe from N**i occupation and remains one of the largest amphibious military operations in history. More than 150,000 Allied troops — including thousands of Canadians — took part in this historic operation, knowing the immense risks that lay ahead.

On this anniversary of D-Day, Royal Canadian Legion Branch 034 honours all who served and remembers those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the pursuit of freedom.

Their courage changed the course of history. Their legacy lives on.

Our Legion family extends our deepest condolences, thoughts, and prayers to Luke Barrett, his family, and all those affected by this heartbreaking tragedy.

We are saddened to learn of the loss of a precious life and the critical injuries sustained in the accident. Our hearts are with the Barrett family and their extended family as they face an unimaginable time of grief, uncertainty, and sorrow.

To Luke’s daughter as she continues her fight, we send our hopes, prayers, and strength. To all who are hurting today, please know that your community stands beside you.

On behalf of the members of Royal Canadian Legion Branch 034, we encourage everyone to keep the Barrett family in their thoughts and prayers and to offer support, kindness, and compassion wherever possible in the days ahead.

Just putting this out there again. If anyone has a curio cabinet or knows of someone who has one they are wishing to part with, Branch 34 would happily take them off your hands. We would like to usw them as a better way to display the veteran memorabilia.
