What an extraordinary honor it was to welcome distinguished guest John Callaghan and his three sons, who traveled all the way from Ontario, to a special opening of the Myrick Wireless Interpretation Center! John is the great-grandson of one of the brave survivors of the 1863 shipwreck Anglo Saxon, a poignant reminder of the devastating tragedy that claimed 237 lives, leaving an indelible mark in the history of Newfoundland and Labrador's shores.
Interpreter Brenda Molloy expertly guided them through the captivating exhibits showcasing Marconi's pioneering wireless communication and the momentous events that shaped history at Cape Race.
John's heartfelt gratitude and awe were visible as he expressed his appreciation for the warm welcome he and his sons received. We offer our deepest thanks to John for sharing a profoundly moving and empowering story with us.
Our sincere gratitude extends to Calvin Coombs and the SE Avalon Trails Committee, and Edge of Avalon Inn, whose collaboration made this unforgettable visit possible for John and his sons – we were thrilled to be part of this remarkable experience.
The Myrick Wireless Interpretation Centre will open to visitors this season on July 1st.
