This is our 10th year with Skating on the Crescent and the first time we still have some items on the ice in April. Freeze/thaw/freeze/thaw has made it far more interesting for us, that’s for sure. We are still working on it…. They are just taking a little longer to get out.

Maybe we’ll string the lights back up and leave them for the kayakers!😇

Our season has come to an end! The outdoor rink is no longer being cleared and the ice depth will no longer be checked by our committee. Please be careful on the Crescent Lake ice now as we get to the end of March, it generally melts fairly quickly this time of year.

Thanks again for a great season! See you in December!

It’s that time of year that we start to wrap up the skating season! The ice is still over a foot thick, but with warmer weather comes rough ice and slush. We have started taking stuff off of the ice, so please don’t move it back on.

Thank you for all the support this past winter and we look forward to seeing you all again in 10 months!

This is what happens when everyone works together! 🥰

Thank you Andrew Dornan and the Applied Carpentry class of BCT for re-sheathing the change shack with treated plywood! The OSB on the shack had completely rotted through and needed to be redone and the Carpentry class came to our rescue!

Thank you also to Jan at Tornado’s for covering the cost of materials, you are always willing to help out the community and it doesn’t go unnoticed.

The next couple of weeks looks like great weather to skate outside. We hope to see everyone enjoying the rink and weather!

We would like to thank the City of Portage for all their help and support over the years! They allow us coverage under their insurance, allow us to use their power supply for our lights, deliver us picnic tables, garbages and pylons to use for the season… we name it and they deliver! Thank you City of Portage!

The commitment for a volunteer doesn’t stop just because the weather is cold. Todd, Jose and Leo braved the Manitoba winter to stand up the change shack after it blew over in the big winds a couple days ago.

Thanks for all your work guys!

A huge shout out to the Portage Industrial Exhibition Association for letting us use the MNP Building for storing our equipment and supplies!!! We have been doing this since 2017 and they have allowed us to store either a quad, side by side or our pump and trailer in their facilities each year from the beginning. That means so much to us! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
