Supported Employment - Portage Supported Employment assists people with disabilities to acquire and maintain employment in their community.

It provides assistance such as resume creation, job searches, coaching, retention, training, and individually tailored follow-up. Supported Employment clients are prepared for employment using one-to-one employment preparation. Techniques used include task analysis, hand-over-hand assistance, and endless support and follow up as required. While the concept of supported employment has been in use s

ince 1986, recently it has received increased attention as an integral component of programming to afford better access for those with barriers to significant and comprehensive work venues. Employers may hire and retain skilled and committed staff, gain access to an untapped workforce, and enhance their workplace culture by consciously choosing to diversify their hiring practices. Supported Employment is funded by the Manitoba Government.
