Friendly reminder to check in with your people.

The past few months have been brutal within my circle. Family, old friends, new friends, acquaintances, damn near everywhere. Sadness, struggle and grief.

Life continuously coughs up tough stuff and challenges every fabric of your being. Check-in, ask your people sincerely and hold yourself accountable to being good and doing good.

You are not alone, I know I’m not alone.

Be well my friends 👊

It’s taken me a few days to absorb the news.

I met Charles, a.k.a. ‘Chuck’ in the 80s during high school. We got to know each other because of his sister Christine, with whom I shared many classes during high school.

Even from back then Charles was even keeled, thoughtful, upbeat, fun and respectful. Not common attributes of high school guys. Being a couple years older, he had his crew. I had my crew but we were generally arms length , because of his sister Christine.

After school, life takes over, I head to the military, and we would not reconnect for many years later until high school reunions and gathering started to take place. Despite the years passing, he’s precisely the same guy I had experienced from our school years. No change whatsoever.

I specifically remember a conversation during a gathering at Whistlers where he was telling me about his creative career; percolating opportunities and doors were opening. His enthusiasm was contagious and I was thrilled for him.

There was always something special about his demeanour, his conviction for his craft and the way he attentively listened and exchanged words, he was locked in and totally engaged in the here and now. Even when I went to one of his movie screenings, he was surrounded by the buzz of cameras, colleagues, industry, people, etc. we locked eyes and he came over. Big smile, quick hug, and a few good words and all he went.

Thanks the social media we had stayed in touch and exchanged messages periodically. We were making arrangements to reconnect when I got back in town, and when he didn’t respond, I simply figured work life got hectic.

The loss of a wonderful human being is beyond words, I’m gutted and my heart hurts for his family and young child, Selah. Everyday is a gift.

Rest in Power Chuck ❤️

There it is, kind of, sort of. 8 friends/riders trusted me to take them on a 10 day motorcycle trip here in the southern province of Peloponnese 🇬🇷 … they had no idea what was in store for them 🤪

All the routes had a beginning and an end but the in between places were sometimes impromptu, just because 😁

When ya ride with me you are going to get random unplanned stops. I feel
like if you truly want to get to know
a place ya must get lost. Forget the GPS and your instinct to always be on an agenda. Chances are you will generate an unforgettable experience. We did a fair bit of that!

Most of the daily rides I mapped out were under 300km. Doesn’t sound like much, I know. These routes took us anywhere from 5-7 hrs to complete though. No tolls, No super highways, not one. Only secondary roads thru tiny villages, seasides, gnarly off road, forgotten places in the high mountains and well yes, eventually bumped into bigger cities 😃

Lodging was in Tolo, Monemvasia, Kalamata, Kalo Nero and Kato Achaia. All top shelf hotel experiences 👌

2024 trip already in the works!

Got my Moto license in 1987. Later that year I scored this 1986 Honda Interceptor 500…. Love this moto. Although not mine now, I found myself reminiscing big time.

Good times outside! Big props to a few of the bros who tackled some gravel sketchiness 💪
